Writer/Editor/Composer Looking For A Project!

#1 Post by Azureth » Tue Oct 22, 2013 12:20 am

Hello! I thought I'd make a post introducing myself and offering my services to those who may want/need it! For free of course, I want to do whatever I can for this community :)

On the internet I am most commonly known by the name Azureth, I'm a huge VN fan, I love the medium and the emotion it can convey! In this post I'll tell you about some of my skills! Primarily, I'm a writer, of mostly fantasy and sci-fi, with skills and experience in the fields of - professional editing, script writing for short films, short stories (I've had a small number published) and I feel I'm specifically good at character design (having designed several for video games in my studies.) I've also been roleplaying (on highly literate post by play forums) for around four years. My dream is to write for video games (I'm studying game design at uni) and I thought this would be a good place to help that dream become reality! There's a short sample of my writing on my Deviant Art Page (which I shall link below). I'll happily provide more if requested.

Music composition is a hobby of mine, mostly classical. I've been playing piano, the bass guitar and singing for most of my life, but have only recently started composing so I don't have too much to show for it. However, if anyone is looking for a composer I would love to get some more experience in that field! I've got no samples online at the moment, PM if you'd like one.

Also, as a side note, I occasionally dabble in art, usually in the form of weird psychedelic wallpapers. Or rather, abstract photoshop art! Any piece of ART on my Deviant Art page is available for public use, and I do take requests. My DeviantArt is here: http://azurreth.deviantart.com/

So, if anyone is interested in having me on-board with their project, or perhaps collaborating with me (I have plenty of ideas of my own), reply/pm what have you :) I look forward to working with you!!

Greetings!
I have actually been looking to do a small project, but I am not much of a writer. I draw extensively and can handle characters, BGs and UI. I can also code but would appreciate help in doing so, if you know how to.

I have had in mind a fantasy/horror type of game for awhile. Nothing solid, more of a desire to do something either about alchemy and shape shifting, or a horror involving swamps/old houses etc.

This one idea from the ideas dump post piques my interest, since it can be done Lovecraft style via the Necronomicon.
Okay, so the story starts off with your character finding some ancient book in the library written in an indecipherable archaic language. He thinks nothing of it and continues about his daily life.

The story then just follows his normal everyday life, and the player gets lots of choices about what he should do at any given moment (whether to go to class, what kind of food to get for dinner, etc). But as the story progresses, little things start getting more and more bizarre. The character's reactions to your decisions get weirder, for instance if you decide to eat hamburger for dinner he might eat raw hamburger with a spoon. Then the decisions themselves start getting weirder and more disturbing and start forcing the player down a disturbing path. It would be implied, but not explicitly stated that the text he found in the library has somehow affected / possessed the main character and he is setting up some sort of terrifying violent ritual to summon some entity into this world.
You can find examples of my artwork here and here.

I really only have interest in small to medium projects involving no more than perhaps 12 characters, give or take a few minor ones, and the same for backgrounds, not counting time of day changes.
If you have any ideas that you would like to bounce off of me or discuss, let me know! Maybe we can get something going.

Salutations Gecko!!

Wow, I wasn't expecting anyone to respond so fast, in fact I wasn't sure if anyone was going to respond at all!! I'd love to work with you! I'll shoot you a PM as soon as I can, we can toss around ideas and such :) Though the one you posted intrigues me also, that'd be an interesting challenge! Perhaps I should have put this in the original post, but I too am only really looking for smallish projects, I'm so swamped under with study until December, so I probably won't be able to handle anything massive until then. I had a look at your art, my compliments! You're a brilliant artist, I love your style, your everything, and your work on Jacob's Island is just phenomenal!

I've had a lot of experience with fantasy (and dark urban fantasy, which I imagine is similar to horror), but not so much with horror. I'm willing to give it a shot though, I love both genres :)

I look forward to working with you, and will PM you asap so we can :D I am so excited about this! This post is possibly just excited blah, sorry if I've been going on a bit, but seriously my excitement has no bounds! There is a new creative project in our futures, and it will be awesome! I can sense it!
