The Cask of Amontillado- beta

#1 Post by arttorney » Sun Dec 29, 2013 10:40 am

Here is the Cask of Amontillado in an all-platforms zip. I appreciate any feedback about how I have done. This is my first game. The complete description of the game can be found at http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 43&t=24466
and a screencast of the 3D with classical version is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhho2g31wkw

Here is the two dimensional art with alternative sound version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guVX54B4TnI

but here is a screenshot:

In this post is a Windows-only distribution that I am preparing to download from one of my other computers. After I have finished that test I will see if I will be able to do the Linux test with my Knoppix CD rigged to save its files to a flash drive. If I can do that I would be able to play the game on any modern computer that doesn't have a password for BIOS bootloader menu. If that fails, I can coax my old Fedora computer into booting one more time, or I also have Damnsmalllinux I can try to install to the hard drive of my lab computer. The Knoppix and DSL are Debian based.

My Vector Linux is too damn slow on the old Dell laptop I use as my lab computer and my Xandros Linux is kind of uncooperative about downloading applications that didn't come from the Xandros store. My SUSE 7.0 from the late 90s probably lacks a whole boatload of necessary libraries/applications (but DSL and Knoppix are both pretty stripped down anyway). Linux people sit tight. I have my work cut out for me to test that distribution.

Here is a Linux only distribution, basically so I can come back here on my Linux lab computer and download it for play testing.

I got it and got Ren'Py, though it took longer to figure out where Knoppix stashed them than it took to download them in the first place. I'm just more familiar with Fedora and Gnome than I am with Debian distributions and the K desktop environment. (The Quick File Manager in the K menu goes into the persistent home directory. If you just go into the flash drive from the desktop icon it is apparently showing you only the portion of the flash drive that has not been partitioned as the home directory).

Ark unbundled them for me. I just need to find some time to fire it up and give it a spin.

Further edit: the so-called persistent home directory has proven to be rather ephemeral. I'll have to do this with my poor old power supply challenged Fedora machine.
