DirectSound Error?

#1 Post by Iwako »

Hi everyone!

So I sort of finished half of a VN project and sent it off to my friend for her to see it first. She's the first one I distributed this to so I'm not sure if it's her computer or my file problems, but basically when she tries to run the game, she says a really long error message keeps popping up saying:
"I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred"..."After initialization, but before game start"..."Exception: DirectSoundCreate: Unknown DirectSound error: 0x80070006"
(She didn't catch everything in between those messages)

I tried downloading the file from the Dropbox link I sent her and extracting the zip and trying it myself, and it works fine on my computer. For her, she said she tried to open it about 10 times and for some reason it suddenly worked.

Any idea what caused that error and how to fix it? Thanks!

It's looking like a driver/sound card problem. Is your friend's DirectX up to date?

Hmmm. Her computer is a brand new one, so maybe it's possible. I'll ask her tonight to try and update her drivers. Hopefully that fixes the problem D: Thanks!
