Growing Roots [VN] [NaNoRenO 2014]

A week ago Alyssum woke up in a city she knew only by name knowing only one thing about herself that a quick look over her person couldn't answer: 'I am a flower'. A week later she walked down an alley and came out from behind an outcropping of rock on a mountin in the time it took her blink. At least this time she had a week's worth of personal memories. If this is a this time.

Create a new fate, or cling to the shadows of a life you may never truly know. Whatever your path, it's time for this flower to start growing roots.

This week will certainly be interesting.
Theme: Supernatural, Horror, Friendship (should you choose to accept it)

Characters:

Alyssum
She's a woman, or maybe just a girl. A flower, but unsure just which one. Maybe from Earth, maybe from where ever she is now (she hopes there aren't more types of flowers around). Knows how to run in heels, which spots are best to panhandle, and what cars belong to known 'freaks, thieves, and potential murderers'. Not that it will help her now. She's got a lot to figure out, or just avoid.

Kunal
A Naga disciple at a monastery in the Cloudsea. Would rather be meditating, at least until he catches a smack on the head for hissing to himself in the middle of it. Just minding his business trying to escort the latest "prophet" back to her kind when it turns out his pessimism was all for nothing. This shit's really going to mess with his zen.

Siebzig
A warrior of the Antaur. She's an anomaly with waking dreams of the past, present and future. Not that it's ever helped anyone. First she was banished, next the much missed prodigal daughter. Then she dreamed of a woman and she turned up. Now things are getting interesting.

Progress

Questions
1 - What do you think of what little I've got thus far?
2 - Would you rather have choices that influence the current scene in addition to choices that affect the ending, or only choices that change the ending?

Other questions, comments, and requests not to quit my day job welcome~

1 - What do you think of what little I've got thus far?

It certainly sounds like there is a lot going on. But I'm not entirely sure what to make of it. I like that there seems to be a variety of races though.

2 - Would you rather have choices that influence the current scene in addition to choices that affect the ending, or only choices that change the ending?

I prefer choices that change the ending. When I play a VN I tend to worry about the choices I've made and how they will impact things. So choices that just affect the situation tend to throw me for a loop since I don't know if I should be concerned with a choice or not ^^;.
In-Progress:
Floret Bond, XOXO Blood Droplets, Our Life
Released:
A Foretold Affair, My Magical Divorce Bureau, XOXO Droplets, Lake of Voices

Currently, I'd rather have a first time player find out what's going on alongside Alyssum. I need to strike a balance between holding my cards and giving enough information to make someone interested in playing the game. I'm glad you like the different races, this story started as a desire to write about monstrous humanoids.

So far I've been able to avoid a tidal wave of weightless choices. While I'm reviewing the script I may go back and assign the extra choices a little weight towards one of my endings too, so they pull double duty as tie breakers if needed.

Here are a couple BGs for the Cloudsea:
