Wow, I'm really impressed with all of the progress you're making on the art front! This is really coming along & I'm excited to see your updates! As far as shading goes, it might help to also look at reference pictures of people/horses to figure out how the light will hit different surfaces & planes
Good luck with everything!

Thank you! I've been looking for shading references, but surprisingly good ones are pretty hard to find. Ideally, I'd want a person/horse from the front, 3/4, and side with different light levels.
I've found one resource like this for humans with cell shading, but surprisingly I haven't found one with soft shading. Will continue looking and practicing!

I found a tutorial or two, plus a few reference sheets. Would those help at all if I linked you to them?

I'll keep an eye on your project, centaur are my favorite type of mythical creature and your world building do far is interesting. I love the diversity of the cast and your choice of setting, it's refreshing and suits your game perfectly. The progress made on the art is impressing too! Keep it up, you've got awesome material under your hoof

Thank you! I am glad folks are interested in the setting, and the diversity of the cast. I've been developing the setting on a wider scale, and might upload a map at some point-- though I don't think it will make an appearance in this game because there isn't a lot of travel. (Maybe the sequel, though, or another game taking place in the setting.)
I'll keep posting on my art progress as well. ^_^ It's motivating to hear folks feedback!

Hey, folks, just a quick update on our game-- for personal reasons, our writer, Sheridan, is no longer able to work on the project. We wish Sheridan luck, and are very thankful for the help we have received so far. Without Sheridan, we would not have such a great, fleshed out plot.
Moving forward, I will be making a recruitment thread in the near future to get another writer on board. Thanks for all you guys' support and we will keep working to get this game out!

Re: The Homestead: A Centaur's Story [Fantasy] [Slice of Lif
Hello, everyone! I wanted to let you all know that I have been working with a new writer for this project-- please welcome Aquamarine. We have been making a lot of progress in the area that had been stalling the most, and yet is vitally important to our game-- the writing. I am happy to say that with our matched schedules, we are able to coordinate daily instead of weekly, allowing us to fill in the story at breakneck speed.
When we have reached a point in the writing where we can create a demo, we will let you all know and upload a download link. We are looking forward to hearing what you all think of our progress so far.
For our followers, I have a few questions!
What would you like to see more of from our project? What kinds of updates do you find most engaging?

- Character Sprites with increased detail (poses, expressions, shading, accessories)
- Background art (though, as previously stated this may go a bit slower due to scheduling)
- CG previews (cropped previews of our progress on the various CGs in our game)
- Short Vignettes, to show off parts of the story (no spoilers, of course!)
- Social Network accounts for you to follow (facebook, twitter, etc.)
- A website (would probably take some time, but doable!)
- Something else (please elaborate in your comment)

Alright, another update on the writing. Unfortunately, due to personal conflicts, Aquamarine is no longer with us. For now, I am going to try to work with another writer, noxchaos, to get some ground work-- and once more of the script is written I may be looking for a new writer. There were some miscommunications about the genre and themes in this game, so I want to be sure it's more clear the next time around before I bring someone on board.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'll go ahead and post some vignettes once they are completed. I'll have a look at what other groups have released so I know what is standard in length/content/etc.

Re: The Homestead: A Centaur's Story [Fantasy] [Slice of Lif
It's been quite a while since I updated this-- just a head's up I haven't dropped it!
I've been dealing with some pretty major health issues, and especially in the past few months it's gotten a lot worse. This, combined with the difficulty I've had finding a writer has been making progress, unfortunately, slow! I'm not 100% sure on what I'm going to do with the writer-- I have an IRL friend who may be willing to help out, and if not I'm probably going to need to make another recruitment post.
In the meantime, I've been working on the character sprites again, with some improvements: shading and adding accessories!
And here's a new centaur I just finished:
Until the writing delay is sorted out, I'll be doing what I can to improve the assets that are already here. (Including the title page, because looking back, I have no idea why I used grey for the text-- it is completely unreadable, haha.)
Thanks to everyone who has been watching and supporting this project! I really appreciate it.

Okay, changed the color on the logo text because wow... The old one was completely unreadable and I have no idea why I did that, haha.

Did a bit of a shading update on Hierlon. Started here because aesthetically, this is my favorite one so far.
