Free Python MOOC Starting June 2
Posted: Wed May 28, 2014 8:37 pm
I just enrolled in a class online that I noticed on coursera, which is a MOOCs(Massive Open Online Course) site.
The class is centered on learning basic Python. I figured some folks here would be interested since it's free, the textbook is free, the teacher seems like a cool guy, and we all use Ren'Py.
About:
Title: Programming for Everybody
The class starts on June 2, 2014.
It runs for 10 weeks.
It requires only about 2-4 hours of work per week.
It has English and English Subtitles.
The class is free, from the University of Michigan.
You can receive a statement of accomplishment for free or a verified certificate for $49.
This course aims to teach everyone to learn the basics of programming computers. The course has no pre-requisites and avoids all but the simplest mathematics. Anyone with moderate computer experience should be able to master the materials in this course.
I suggest you check it out if you're interested in learning python. Maybe we'll be classmates!
I am also enrolled in this other class: An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python, which starts in September and is from RICE University in Houston.
Is anyone else interested? We could form a study group maybe, for either class. Let me know what you think.
