Enthusiastic, Free, Lots of Free Time--Composer available!

#1 Post by Commiczar »

Hello, everyone! For a brief summary, the thread's title is applicable: I'm a dabbling composer (or, at least, someone trying to be such) that wants to accrue some experience composing for a specific task, rather than for my own amusement, and as a direct result doesn't care too much about prices, to the degree of being perfectly willing to work for free.

To be upfront: I am a non-music major student in university that has been a part of various scholastic and extracurricular orchestras for most of my life. At this point in time I have no real "professional" compositional program--I use a freeware MIDI program (Aria Maestosa, http://ariamaestosa.sourceforge.net/ ) and convert the resulting MIDI files to .mp3 files via a free web service (http://solmire.com/ ). I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) to edit files from there, adjusting tempo, adding assorted effects (e.g. reverb), and so on.

In terms of skill, I am fully aware that I am far from the best, but I will gladly work with you to try to get exactly what you want, to the best of my ability.

Here, I must add two caveats: there are two pieces rather heavily inspired by the works of Edward Elgar (with one file being a straight conversion of an orchestral work to a music-box format, for a lark); I decided that having a totality of what I am able to produce available would be better for me than necessarily trying to show off my "best", so there are almost certainly going to be works of mine that simply suck.

For contacting me, I like to be flexible: feel free to message me on here, via email (bachattaway at gmail), or via Skype ("bachattaway"). I will get back to you as quickly as I am able!

Any questions, comments, etc. please feel free to either message me, or post directly.
