I'm a huge fan of the Ace Attorney series myself, so, naturally, this looks super interesting to me and I just had to try it out:
1. First impressions? Who do you think the murderer is, and why? Can you figure out the motive yet?
I really love the art style and the character designs! I also loved the characters' personalities. They're all pretty funny. Definitely had a fun time reading this!
At first I was worried a little about the timer, since I really hate time limits, but... I quickly realized it's not that much of a problem, actually.
At least so far, it's been more than enough time.
As for the murderer...
unless there are some other characters involved we haven't seen yet, the waiter is currently the most likely suspect. Not too sure about the motive. I suspect the waiter either is the other woman from the picture or at least related to her, so the motive will probably have to do with the past of Brock's late wife and the stuff he mentioned near the end of the demo.
2. Is the game easy enough to understand how to play? Were there parts of the GUI you tripped up on?
The GUI seems fine so far. Didn't really have any problems with it. As for the gameplay, it's pretty easy to understand. At least if you're familiar with Ace Attorney games, you immediately know how everything works, so that there isn't even a need for a tutorial.
Not sure how people might feel about it who never played an Ace Attorney game before, but I still think it shouldn't be too hard to understand.
3. Did you like being able to skip the tutorial sections by saying you didn't need help?
Yep. As I said above, I didn't really need an explanation, so being able to skip it and get right on with the story was nice.
4. Were the testimony rebuttal sections too hard? Too easy? Just right?
Definitely not too hard. I always knew immediately which statement to choose and which evidence to present, so I guess it might have been a little too easy. But since it's the first case, that's fine. I wouldn't mind it getting a lot harder later on, though.
Anyway, overall, I really enjoyed this! Keep up the good work!
