I have a Labtec headset. :3 Wow, Audacity is great. I'm getting much higher quality from it than from MS Sound Recorder. ^_^ Haha. *feels stupid now* Thanks for all your help! Now let's return back on topic instead of stealing Chou's topic. ^_^;;;

For others interesting in recordings, I'll second that both the microphone and the sound card are very important. I used to record a lot on my old computer and had a good quality. Then I got a new computer with an integrated soundcard (the ones on the motherboard) and the next time I tried to record I had the worst sound ever with lots of static that I couldn't even filter out without making the recording sound awful. I got my Sound Blaster back from the old computer and have had no problem since. Basically, Sound Blasters use a special noise filter that reduces interferences coming from all the surrounding electronic equipment. The integrated sound card, obviously, does not (it's not useful for playing sounds, so they don't bother).

I'd also note that in my experience, headset mics don't tend to stand up to standalone units; I presume this is at least partially because a decent standalone mic is much larger, so will have a larger pickup that will be less prone to turbulence and so on.

I expect that a decent USB mic is probably the most universal solution, since the analogue-digital conversion is done in the electronics in the mic itself (since USB is an entirely digital protocol), and thus it won't be dependent on the user's sound card at all. I seem to recall that the USB dongle you get with the Singstar game is pretty good, but I couldn't swear to it, I tend to use a standalone analogue mic when I need to record stuff myself.
