I've decided to make a group on steam for all the VN Devs who might be interested. I feel that having a community on Steam will strengthen us as a gaming genre and show Steam that yes, Visual Novels are games and there is a following.
Visual Novel Developers Group
"Where Developers and Fans Meet!"
This is a group for people of all kinds, who all just happen to make story-driven games. Or maybe just enjoy those games, or happen to like a developer who is in the group.
We will also accept other narrative heavy game genres/styles. Games styled like the Stanley Parable or those Walking Dead games.
What we will not accept is any discrimination or hatred towards anything or anyone. We also will not tolerate the "Visual Novels aren't REAL games" attitude. (If you truly think that, I'd like you to back up those fighting words after you try to make a serious visual novel yourself.)
Mostly we are here to show that there is a community who wants Visual Novels and other story-based games. We have to show the world that we have a place among other games, and I think Steam is just the platform to do it with.
We are here to support each other and the devs that we admire. Feel free to promote your story-based games here (within reason of course!) Greenlight links are great, let us know you're out there, your stories deserve to be heard.
If you join, please follow the general steam guidelines, which you can read here.

Interesting. I've only worked on one or two commercial games while under a different username, but none of them ever made it to Steam. Might be worthwhile just to chat with other enthusiasts. Consider me an honorary member until I figure out my old email/password combo for my Steam account.

Although it would seriously be nice if Steam would include "visual novels" as a category. Maybe we as a group could petition them to do that?

I don't think they'll do it, but there are the tags for that now
