Monthly Update!

I've been able to edit all of the script I have so far (97k) and am now writing the final ending! My current wordcount is at 101k.

I was also able to do more coding this month and am now at 10% coded! (That's 10% of the 97k word count) Yay!

Just downloaded the demo and played through. Very nice! saw only one small typo (I think). Remarkably well done for an alpha release . . . . I really enjoyed it . . . . makes me want to see more! I'll be watching this thread for future updates.

Thank you! There are a few typos in the demo that I didn't catch in time (at one point Meryl accidentally slips into pirate mode and says "me mother placed her arms on my shoulders"), but hopefully they won't be there in the updated demo! (And if they are feel free to point them out, haha)


Monthly Update!
I hope everyone had a nice March! (I know I'm really really enjoying all the Nano VNs this year~)

Coding is now at 12%!
And more importantly:

I WAS ABLE TO FINISH THE SCRIPT!!!! It is currently sitting at 117k!
I still need to edit it and add in one or two scenes to smooth things out a little more, but it's FINISHED! After more than a year of writing it, I've finally reached the second and final ending of M&A! :'D

And if that wasn't good enough news by itself:
I plan to get another demo out when I hit 15% of the coding!
I'm aiming for a late May/early June release for that second demo, which will cover 15k and the entirety of the common route! Yay!

Not a monthly update, but I just wanted to say that I'm looking for beta readers for the script! Just someone to read through what I have and point out major plots holes and keep an eye on those pesky commas.

It will be around ~120k in length, but I could split the script up into the 2 different paths (One is 70k in length, the other 50k) if you wanted to just read through one of the story lines.

I wasn't able to do much this month unfortunately, as I was very very busy irl. (The screenshots for this month are pretty much the only thing I was able to code this month haha :'D) But this will, hopefully, be the last month where I'm not as free to work on M&A!

Coding is still at 12%.

Sorry it took me so long! I had a draft of this saved and I never got around to writing up my thoughts! OTL

Anyway, I enjoyed this demo even more than the first! My feedback:

I love Gregor and he might be my favorite character so far (love the grumpy guys). I'm actually interested in learning a little more about him as well as the rest of the cast. I'm curious to what August is hiding about himself too! I guess that's left to discover...

The part when August reads the letter Meryl's mother wrote was so adorable! I can see how it was embarrassing for her, but it was a good point of emphasizing how much her mom cared about her. That being said, Meryl's mom is pretty cool to let her figure out her own life like that. =D

I think my main critique would be the dialogue sessions concerning Meryl not wanting to go home. Her refusing August and Gregor to send her back tended to get a bit repetitive. However, it seems as thought August and Gregor have warmed up to her, so it looks like they'll be joining in on her adventure after all!

Overall, great job- this demo was the right length! I look forward to the finished version.

1) Which character looks the most interesting to you?

All the characters looked interesting to me. Meryl struck me as particularly adorable, and her mother has very kind eyes. Overall, I think the designs for everyone are great.

2) Do you think the synopsis should go more in depth about the plot? Or is it alright as is?

Although the synopsis is short, I think it captures the spirit of the visual novel (from what I've played in the demo, anyway) very well. I say either keep it, or go into just a tad more detail about the game! Perhaps about the enemies she may face, and such?

3) How do you feel about VNs that don't heavily feature romance?

I'm totally up for them! My ideal anime is features romance as a subplot as opposed to the main plot, and I'm pretty sure it's the same with visual novels, too. Whether or not there will be romance, I'm excited for the full release!

Specific questions about the demo

4) How were the music levels? Sound effect levels? Was there ever a moment you thought one was too loud compared to the other?

The only thing about the music I thought throughout the game was that it fit the mood. In retrospect, it was quite soothing too. So, to answer your question, music levels and sound effect levels are fine to me!

5) Were there any moments you thought would be helped by an additional CG on screen?

Oh, I actually thought about this during my playthrough of the demo! I think the scene

where Meryl fell off of the tree and on top of August would benefit from a cute little CG. It'd definitely stir some shippy feelings, ehehe.

6) General thoughts, comments, suggestions?

You're a talented writer. From the beginning of the game, I already found myself fully immersed into the story as opposed to consciously thinking, "I'm playing the demo of a visual novel." Meryl and her thirst for adventure despite not having too much of a purpose reminds me of myself. I'd love to go on a magical journey--but for what? Fun? I'm sure a lot of people relate to this wanderlust, too, and joining Meryl on her journey might help stimulate it.

The characters are really entertaining, and I'd love to learn more about all of them. I'm already shipping Meryl and August. August's tenacity and soft-heartedness coupled with Meryl's pluckiness and curiosity is something I think makes the pair interesting! Also, the relationship between Meryl and her mom is heartwarming. Her mother's such a kind person. August crying about it gave me a good chuckle, too!

By the way, I laughed at the juxtaposition of princesses and mages and the latter being a realistic job. I'd love to be a mage. XD

(Late) Monthly Update!

I took a 2/3 week hiatus from working on M&A to make a short little KN (http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 11&t=33193) because I was feeling a little burnt out, but I'm back now!

My progress is at.... 19%!

Aaahh thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the dynamic between Meryl and her mother. I very much enjoyed writing those scenes~

I'll keep that in mind for the extra small CG there! I was originally planning on drawing something there but the CG with August looking up the tree took a lot longer (and was more frustrating) to draw that I expected, so I ended up scrapping it.

And I'm glad that Meryl's wanderlust came through! I think most people would want to go on a magical adventure if the situation presented itself, haha :'D.

I'm glad you're enjoying Gregor! Tbh he's actually one of my favorite characters to write because he's sometimes the only 'normal' person in the entire script, XD.

And point noted about the dialogue between Meryl and Gregor/August. Hopefully(?) that's the extent of the conversations about Meryl going back home, since something happens right after the demo to detour the conversation away from that, haha.

Monthly update!

I was able to finish Adrianne's sprites for use in the script, and drew 2 more CGs (both of which have 9 variations, hahahaa...)!

I was also able to do a little bit of coding, bringing us up to 20% coded! Yay!

Monthly update!

A lot happened this month, the biggest of which is that I decided that it was time to redo August and Meryl's sprites (they were looking fairly old) and I'm enjoying how they're coming out. They're not completely finished yet, but when I finish them I'm hoping to release a 'mini-demo' with the new updated sprites as well as the new 10k I've been able to code since May! I'm aiming to be finished this mini-demo by mid October!

I've also been able to code a bit this month, and the coding percentage is now up to 23%!

This upcoming month is going to be a bit slower in the coding percentage goal because I'll be trying to finish those sprites as well as the fact that I am working on a Yurijam game, so I'm a bit busier than normal.
