Actually, I have a guess as to what it is. I think the foreground guy is foreshortened - he tapers as the eye goes down from his shoulders to his waist and legs. That, along with the angle he's looking, is a strong visual cue to being above him.
I released 3 VNs, many moons ago: Elven Relations (IntRenAiMo 2007), When I Rule The World (NaNoRenO 2005), and Cloud Fairy (the Cute Light & Fluffy Project, 2009).
More recently I designed the board game Steam Works (published in 2015), available from a local gaming store near you!

One technique when drawing people in perspective is to "hang" all the characters in view from the same point in the body (assuming they're all about the same size). Jake here "hanged" them from the eyes.
(I think the guy's arms are a bit short thou =P)
Quick example so you guys undesrtand what i'm talking about.

When drawing something, anything, USE REFERENCES!! Use your Google-fu!
Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

Hmm. He's supposed to have really broad shoulders, which are then padded. Padded shoulders are a bit of a running thing...

...anyway - how about now:

Any better?

Things are really looking great....cheering you all on the sidelines! GOOOOOOOOO! GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That, really, the heart of this community...making games for the fun of it, not because there's a $$$ tag attached. Yeah, we have a few here that make games for a living - and I would LOVE to do that but it's beyond my grasp right now - but I suspect they wouldn't be doing that if it wasn't because they enjoyed doing it.

So. having said that.......*cheers ya on!!!!*

Another week, another status update on Star Story Saga: Renaissance. Progress is going well, it looks like we're going to hit milestone 1 a little early so you lucky people may even get some additional alternative endings!

7 of 10 backgrounds
5 of 8 characters
16 of 28 scenes written

The eagle eyed will notice that the asset list has grown slightly... I have no idea how that happened.

Woah, half gone already. And I could barely even touch my script because of my exams. But now I have the entire week off to write! ^_^
