Paid Programmer/UI Designer Ready to Help[CLOSED]
I'm a programmer and UI/narrative designer looking to help out with indie visual novel projects. Currently, I prefer to work on a short-term project. That already has a clear production goal.
I can work alongside you as a partner helping you to complete the project. Or I can simply answer programmer-related questions you may have.
I'm not looking to make a profit here, only the chance help out new visual novel developers. So I only expect small fees.
PM me if your interested or just have a programmer related question to ask.
Quick Facts:
- Intermediate to Advance Programmer (Depends on the requested job)
- A dedicated worker
- A strong team player
- Most of my experience working as a game developer comes from working on a variety of Unity, RPG Maker, GameMaker and Ren'py projects for the last couple of years.
What I will do:
- I will only work in Ren'py and will extend to python if needed.
- Do narrative Ren'py scripting (Images; Choices; Music; Essentially all of it)
- Basic to complex UI coding. (Image-maps; Animations; Image buttons and so on) (You will have to provide your own UI designs)
- Basic to complex functions. (Animations; Custom menus (e.g. smartphone with apps); timed choices; randomized choices and so on)
What I won't do:
- Create any custom/battle engines
UPDATE 10/01/2017!! - I am reopening this thread in hopes to be recruited for another project. I'm keen to work on a short-term project.
UPDATE 6/03/2017!! - Still open, looking to work on a larger project!!

UPDATE: My current plate is too full for any more free projects. I am still open to answer and solve issues for developers.
I'm also still open to any paid jobs you may have for me.

UPDATE 27/04/2015!! - I am reopening this thread in hopes to be recruited for another project. I am only keen to add one more project to my slate. So you may have to be quick about contacting me.
Re: Ren'py Programmer looking to help out smaller projects[O
Are you still looking for a project to help with?
My team and I are very much in need of a programmer, Iv'e been doing the programming myself but it's been a struggle for me. :/
Our project is relatively small and hopefully won't be too demanding.
(I actually just joined this site for the sole purpose of finding a programmer and finding some help in general.)

Would like to ask what people or resources helped you the most in learning to program on Ren'py?
Trying to get the programing under my belt, code is familiar to me, but it seems it's easy to get it wrong with my guesswork.

Re: Ren'py Programmer looking to help out smaller projects[O
For me, I picked up my renpy programming from checking out the online manual (http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/index.html) every time I couldn't figure something out. Also, when I wanted to do something complex I have never done before. I would check out the forums here to see if anyone has done something similar and study the code they used. Doing this over and over again for a year or two made sure everything got stuck in my head. I used a similar learning pattern for all my coding languages.Team_Unmotivated wrote:Would like to ask what people or resources helped you the most in learning to program on Ren'py?

Bottom line, just keep coding. It will stick eventually.
Hope this helps.

That is a kind offer to post online, just offering to help others and jump into projects. It's reassuring for those of us who are creating our first game and might need the extra help to get there the first time. Coding especially is such a tricky beast.
I'm nowhere near needing any of this help yet- still writing- but the workload for my finished game will be hefty. Hopefully I'll be able to get help like this later on.

Re: Paid Programmer/UI Designer Looking to Help[OPEN]
Hello, I am looking for someone who can help design an app. I have some coding knowledge but the scope of the development is a little much for me to handle alone. I would like to make a library of VNs where I can consolidate my own work as well as other artists, so as you can imagine, the scope would be pretty large. I am willing to pay for something though, so it would not be entirely free work. If the app was successful, then I would be happy to offer a percentage of the profits.
