How to kindly specify that a VN is not anime-styled?

#1 Post by Sixteenth » Wed Sep 30, 2015 6:44 pm

First off, thanks for reading, this is my first post ever (though I posted at the guestbook :P). :)
Okay, the name of the topic is maybe not that good, anyway, let's get to it.

The thing is that I'm slowly starting to make VNs that are non-anime related, and I might need help with sprites and backgrounds. The problem is that I don't know how to specify that the art that I need is more like a "western comic" style and/or "Tim Burton style".
Any help? How to properly refer to the type of art I'm looking for?

I've found it useful to just say what you want: "western comic" style and/or "Tim Burton style". Posting a sample is always helpful.
All of my VNs are at http://wolflore.net NOTE: Downloads are now working.
Some are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.

If you're hoping to recruit artists, then why not post pictures or link to examples of the kind of style you were hoping for.

That way there should be no confusion that you were hoping for a more western style :)

Moodboards. Put in several artist styles you want, highlight what exactly about the style that you like. This works for designing places too: throwing together a quick board with everything you want in a place - a specific kind of castle, for example - helps you get the result you want.

Oh, cool, thanks to both of you. n.n I'll have in mind all that when I decide to take my project to the light and recruit artists. xD
