Background Artists - Semi-realistic Style - Romance VN

#1 Post by HazelKim » Wed Oct 07, 2015 6:59 pm

Hi there! My name is HazelKim, a writer for a new Romance Visual Novel. Working title Project Horse ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This is a multiple route, romance visual novel that will be released for free with a long, estimated read-time. It has been worked on for nearly a year in total now.

Background art is vitally important in this game, as the reader will be in the setting of the VN for a long time, needing backgrounds to help immerse them further. The background artist will likely need to collaborate with the Sprite and CG artist. Details of the setting will be discussed in further after joining the project.

While not 100% concrete, likely requirements are in the region of;
~11 Backgrounds needed for early next year.
~More over the course of development, not straight away
~A soft-shaded, semi-realistic art style with anime thematics

Background images will need to be at least full HD, preferably higher. Some will need to be wider or taller than screen resolution for panning. The style will also need to fit with the style of the Sprites, although we will leave most of the art direction up to your own initiative. Here is an early concept sprite of a character named Yuu:

There is planned sexual content in the VN. Please take this into consideration when joining the team, even if you will most likely not be working on it. If you join the project you will, of course, be given access to the work-in-progress scripts on Google Drive, as well as various other assets that have been created so far. An example of one of our tracks can be found here https://soundcloud.com/neko-knuckle/piano/s-NE2O6 and here https://soundcloud.com/neko-knuckle/bra ... g2/s-aiMHe .

The team working on the project, Sleepy Mountain, are working on it part-time when time allows them. We barely work in terms of deadlines, and if ever, only loose ones. We also are quite abrasive on first contact due to an extortionate amount of off-topic discussion on Skype : 3 Members include (but not limited to): Ultra_HR, YuukiPudding, Tony 1, Tony 2, a mango, myself, a man named Greg and his horse.

Talk about the project will take place on Skype, so if you have that please feel free to message me on there right away. I am "Azazel KIm" or "hazelkim-kohai" on there, too. Feel free to reply to this post as well, and if you have any questions then please ask. Thanks for taking time out to read this :D
