Looking for Art!
Hi!
I'm looking for art for my project. I had looked around the web, but haven't found art I'm too fond of. I wanted to paint over stock images -- free to use and modify -- but I couldn't find suitable images for the guys. And another thing, this is a non-commerical project, and I really can't offer payment yet, but I could trade my writing or something.
I need four images in total -- one of each of the character -- not sure if I need a side-image for the text; I'm not really looking for that. And it'd be nice to have three additional ballroom scenes -- the MC with each of the guy. This takes place in the late 1800s; the Gilded age, so clothing for that era would be nice, but most clothing looks the same in that time period, so it doesn't really matter. That's all I need.
My project is called Shades. It is about: Three shades of colors tell so much. Gold is the symbol for marriage. Silver is the symbol for courting. Ivory is the symbol for disgrace.
Courting season has begun, and Lady Cromwell, afraid of committing indecent acts that many young ladies have done, chooses her suitors very carefully.
A bit about the characters:
•´¯`•. ⓛⓐⓓⓨ ⓒⓡⓞⓜⓦⓔⓛⓛ .•´¯`•
A silly heroine with very unreliable judgements. Lady Cromwell is quick to judge, predict horrible consequences, and can be snobbish.
•´¯`•. ⓛⓞⓡⓓ ⓖⓐⓤⓝⓣ .•´¯`•
A very graceful young man, whom, speaks with a naturalness, and moves ever-so gracefully, according to Lady Cromwell. Which shade does he fall under? Lady Cromwell is eager to find out.
•´¯`•. ⓛⓞⓡⓓ ⓕⓔⓝⓦⓘⓒⓗ .•´¯`•
A young man with memorizing eyes, which crumbles the bitterness in Lady Cromwell's person, according to Lady Cromwell. Which shade does he fall under? Lady Cromwell is eager to find out.
•´¯`•. ⓢⓘⓡ ⓒⓐⓡⓣⓦⓡⓘⓖⓗⓣ .•´¯`•
An older man, whom plucks the dullness to words, and breathes life to them, according to Lady Cromwell. Which shade does he fall under? Lady Cromwell is eager to find out.
If anyone is interested in this, either PM me or reply to this trend, and I'll send character descriptions, images, and whatever additional information needed. Thanks for clicking on this. I understand if this isn't your thing.

Re: Looking for Art!
Thanks for your help, but as usual, the art for the guys aren't exactly suitable for my characters. I don't know if you meant them as references for drawing, to use as images for my characters, or to use them as references for what my characters look like. Thanks, though, I appreciate your help. I'm sure this will be really helpful to some.ringonoki-ua wrote:Hi, maybe on this board you will find the references that you need.

Re: Looking for Art!
I became interested upon hearing the prospect of victorian clothing.
I'm posting from my laptop, which I don't normally draw on, so I've not any sprite- worthy examples, but if something along these lines would interest you:

...do let me know. If you are interested, I'd love to see some image references of what you'd like your characters to look like.
Unfortunately, I am at a loss in the background department, I could make the character scenes- that you could stick on some free to use bg, or perhaps attempt the ballroom background, but I'm afraid the backgrounds quality just wouldn't be too good.
-If these don't suit you, I wish you luck in further search!

Re: Looking for Art!
ThePirate: I'm obsessed with period dramas and novels, so it was no surprise I came with this silly idea. I love your style, especially the one with the girl in the Victorian clothing. Shades actually took in the Glided age, not the Victorian age. I believed clothing, especially the dresses, is a bit lighter, than the Victorian era. Oh, and I don't need a background, I've one, so don't worry about that. You could draw just the scenes if that's easier for you. I'll PM you details about my characters in a while, and we will see how that goes. Thanks for the interest.
