BCube Studios Mainframe looking for sci-fi romance writer.

#1 Post by LtLame » Tue Feb 02, 2016 1:05 am

We are looking to recruit a writer to replace a writer that had to drop from our team for personal reasons. The position would start on March 1st, likely with a long incubation time for animation, backgrounds, and for our programmers to finish the software for the game.

I'll try to give a tldr of the visual novel.
tldr; College Romance with a plethora of morality, self-discovery and adventure choices.

The VN setting is based on a more realistic future, and attempts to explore the following themes: technological innovation, computers, automation, virtual reality, augmented reality. With some other minor themes of alternate energy, politics, business, and education.

Expected total word length 75k - 100k.

You will be expected to write a story around a character named Mari. The art for which has already begun development. However, all other aspects of the character are open to whatever you want to write about. We have a general theme and behind the scenes plot for the visual novel that you will have to tie your character into, but once again, this just requires a loose association.

People with experience writing visual novels will be highly considered. Those without experience should link us to any writing examples they have done.

Please take a moment to check out our website, and our past updates on our reddit page.

if you have any further questions please leave a reply below and I'll get back to you in 24 hours. We are expecting to hire around March 1st, so this thread will be an open position until sometime around then.

If you are ready and willing to apply, please send an email to bcubedvn@gmail.com. This is only for final application, if you have any questions or would like to talk to us please reply here.

Hi everybody. I just wanted to share some new concept art we've come up with since the post.
This is just concept art, it will be eventually redrawn by our sprite artists.

Let me know if you have any questions about our process or our team.

Hi everybody I just wanted to post an update saying the position is still open. I also wanted to share a little bit more information about us.
This studio was founded over two years ago, we've played around a lot with what we wan't to become and what our strengths are.

Our first flagship novel is going be MainFrame, and beyond that we have a few smaller novels planned. MainFrame will be an free to download, opensource game, because we're all about that. After that we plan on having a few games funded through kick starters and even hopefully self published.

We have many talented people on-board. On a final note I just wanted to share with you the two yearly artbooks we've done for MainFrame. These art pieces don't reflect what the ingame art looks like, but instead represent our artists personal strengths and backgrounds in art. I hope you enjoy them.

I am interested, however, I currently have two projects of my own. Despite this, both projects are quite short and I can easily write up their scripts within the same week if I really wanted to.

I just have a couple questions I'd like answers to if that's not too much to ask - priority being the possibility of having a secondary writer. I can write pretty quickly on my own, but I'm not always inspired and like having someone else to bounce ideas off with. I enjoy fluidity.

Also, I can provide a couple writing samples - one short, one long - if needed since neither of my projects are yet done, but I have nearly flawless spelling and grammar and almost catch all my typos as soon as I've typed them.

Would you be interested in bringing in your own secondary writer? Or would you like one of the current editors on the team to be assigned to you?
Either way we can accommodate. We would love to see some of your writing samples, you can email them without applying to the email mentioned above and we'll look at them at our next Saturday meeting.

I don't really have anyone, so if anyone's willing to work with me that'd be great. I'm a little slow to start, but once I get rolling, I find it fun. I often think best when I'm talking to someone else.

Edit: I just sent the email. It's not an official application. Please let me know if any of the provided links do not work. I forgot to mention who I was in the email, but I'm sure you'll recognize it was from me since I mentioned "Long writing sample" and "Short writing sample" and stuff in it.

We looked through your writing at the last meeting, there is definitely a chance for potential but we would need to talk about a few things. If you do decide to apply make sure to edit your works thoroughly, our editor was not particularly impressed by some of the problems in the writings.

you can also pm me if you want my skype or discord username

It's old stuff. Like I said, I had edited it before, but lost that version. My style also generally changes depending on the type of project. The long post sample is casual writing, so I didn't put too much effort into making it College Essay level, and the short sample is relatively new. I'm flexible, though, so it's no trouble.
