Idea Dump ???

Basically, I'm committing myself to my main project, but I want to keep track of all of my other ideas so I can decide which to work on afterward. I may work on them on the side, but I won't focus on them just yet.

After writing them all down, I've realized they're mostly BL games. All of them will be sfw, though. Maybe minor sexual themes, but nothing that'll warrant an R18 tag.

Anyway, without further delay, here goes!


NARCISSUS
(est. May 2015)
Supernatural - Friendship - Maybe romance? - GxB/G (two each)

Previously titled Agape, centers around Alba, a high school student. Recently, she has transferred to a new school due to an incident during the summer. With the transfer, she and her family hope that she can be able to lead a peaceful life, even with her befriending the not-so-elusive “spirit hunters”. That is, until a parasite-like spirit attaches itself onto Alba.

NOTES

- I actually made a good amount of progress on this, development wise!
- -> All of the plot lines are more or less outlined.
- -> Each character is fully designed.
- I could have continued on with this, but I wanted to put it on hold, for personal reasons.
- I plan for this to be a long one. Probably will be longer than Phoenix, since there's 6 routes, including the common and true route.


SWAN LAKE (working title)

Fantasy - Romance - Kinetic - BxB

Long ago, two kingdoms on opposite sides of the lake ruled peacefully with each other. Though they did not have an official alliance yet, it was destined to occur anyway when the rightful heirs of each kingdom would marry each other when they are right of age. However, that plan was shattered when the Eastern Kingdom was ambushed. While the Western Kingdom assisted its fallen neighbor as best as it could, the heirs of the Eastern Kingdom had gone missing. Left without an ally, the Western Kingdom is currently looking for a new ally to help support their kingdom. Its heir, Prince Siegfried, agrees to go through with his parent's plans for the sake of the kingdom. In exchange, he requests that 1) he chooses who he marries and 2) he gets to explore one last time. Desperate, his parents agree to their stubborn son's wish, and allow him to venture through the woods. Even with all of his imagination and hope he could wish for, the prince would have never expected to meet such a strange boy in the woods. A strange boy who not only could transform into a swan, but also managed to capture his heart...

- Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure I've lost my notes for it.

- It's pretty short compared to the other games I have listed here! Maybe 10-25k in all.
- I have most of the character designs pinned down as well!
- I honestly just wanted to make a cute BL version of Swan Lake when I thought of this, it was literally all I wanted @____@
- I may work on this on the side? Mostly because I want it to be short and cute!

CONCOURSES

Romance - Comedy - GxB/G

While on her way to her best friend's wedding, Julia experiences some... set backs at the airport. Because of a storm, the plane she was planned to take is grounded until further notice. Stuck at the airport, she meets some... interesting people, who, to her surprise, are headed the same way as her.

NOTES

- I legit just wanted to make a VN that takes place in an airport terminal.
- I worked on some of the character development, and two of the sprites.
- It's supposed to be a short game, but has 3-4 routes...
- Not as dramatic as the other games listed here, meant to be a generic otome game, but in an airport.
- Currently really low in my priorities list.


ZERO

Adventure - Action - Romance - BxB

With the emperor in weak condition, his domain is under shaky condition. Gangs have taken it upon themselves to maintain order in their respective territories while the police cower in the shadows or bathe in the luxury of corruption. Zero, a stray, was perfectly fine, minding his own business, trying to lead a decent life. But, when he's found with the emperor's treasure, he has to take it upon himself to journey to the capital so that the kingdom may be stable again. With this... he hopes to make something out of himself... perhaps even to find out his true identity.

NOTES

- I'm thinking that Zero's name might be up to the player?
- Everyone's part animal here!
- -> Zero & Ciel are part cat.
- -> Marrock & Nina are part dog.
- -> Silas is part snake.
- There are three routes (Ciel, Marrock, Silas) + a special (idk if I should call it true) ending with a surprise character.
- I also plan for this one to be pretty long.

Erin wants to study marine biology and Aren is a part of marine biology. They bonded with their similar names and interest in each other’s cultures, and became friends before they knew it.

- Was supposed to be just a short cute story about a merperson befriending a human.

- Still won't be as long as the other games.
- Not as planned out.


THE LUCIFER EFFECT (working title)

It was said that when the world was created, the first two humans had given birth to two children who were destined to represent the Virtue and Sin of humanity. For each generation, new representatives would be born to carry this task. Growing up, these representatives would be under heavy supervision to ensure that they would remain balanced in their lives. However, as the population increased world wide, it soon became difficult to find these representatives and in turn, difficult to balance the good and evil of the world. Recently, the structure of governments around the world have been weakening, due to the growing imbalance of the representatives. Desperate to end chaos, there have been two solutions. One is to find each representative. The other was a self-implemented man hunt.

- -> Most of the lore will be borrowed from the Bible.
- -> (so this is what growing up Catholic has led me to...)
- This is under heavy construction...
- -> I know where I'm going with this but not at the same time.
- -> Most of the character designs have been thought about.

- -> Everyone here has an enhanced power relating to one of the five senses.
- -> Some may not be as powerful as others, but they're still there.

- -> I'm wondering to make the enhanced power of touch to be the rarest...
- I plan to make all of the mains here to be the worst!
- -> Even the MAIN-MAIN guy is a butthole.
- -> I want them to earn the player's trust.
- -> Possibly for the player to guess who the representatives are? Or who the remaining one is...
- I named this the Lucifer Effect after the phenomenon itself!
- -> To save a Google search, it's basically questioning how ordinary people can turn evil-- is it situational or within their nature?
- -> I hope to explore this within the story.
- Even though this is less developed than Narcissus, I may end up working on this next as my main project after Phoenix.

Mystery - Drama - Comedy ??? - Romance - BxB

In the mid 2000s, there were a string of murders thought to have been connected through a certain cell phone novel, but there was never sufficient evidence to be found, and thus the cases were filed away. That is, until a similar murder occurs, putting Arikawa Makoto as head detective of the case with his partner, Ayumu Shinji. As they follow leads and gather evidence they find themselves to be working with psychic Noboru Mitsuki and the primary witness, Hanazono Kaoru. When Makoto receives a text from the culprit, he soon finds himself to be pursuing not only a serial killer, but also a romance which are not exactly exclusive to each other.

- I also find cell phone novels to be pretty interesting? I was thinking about how to go about that, plot wise, so here we are.
- I thought about making this game take place in the US since I'm more familiar with its justice system more than Japan's. But cell phone novels were a bigger thing there than it is here, so I thought it would be more appropriate to keep the setting in Japan.
- -> I realize that I will have to look into the Japanese justice system.
- -> Also into Japanese culture in general.
- I may want to collaborate on someone who is more familiar with the above topics in regards to the writing.
- -> If that's the case, I'll probably create the outline on how the plot should be before sending it to them.

main character has to deal with the fact that his love interests look like really bad yaoi manga drawings but he’s the only one that sees them like that. some random person he met gave him an ominous warning that the only way to fix things is if finds True Love™ if he doesn’t he’ll remain to see any one he may like in this form, which is, to be honest, not the best form you can have. but could this all mean something else ?????

Until she found doodles that she knew she didn’t make.

Apparently, a ghost named Penny had become attached to her, according to a note she found herself writing, even though she couldn’t see or hear a voice.

That, for Allyson, was the turning point of her life.

Thank you! It's kind of a double edge sword, though. I get a lot of ideas, but most of the time, I don't follow through with them (which imo matters more rip). I'm really determined to complete all of these one day, but it takes a lot of time, so I just have to be patient with myself...

And omg no, that's the idea I had in mind when I was thinking up of Concourses. I literally was like, "you know what, i've never seen a game where it straight up takes place in an airport terminal. i wanna write something on that lol" AND SO IT WAS MADE.

If anything, Swan Lake may be a project I'll work on the side to take a break from Phoenix. It's a relatively short story, compared to all of the ones here. To actually go through with that, I have to keep working on Siegfried's design more.

After creating the outline and starting the writing, I figured I've done enough progress to allow myself to make a separate topic for it! I am super hyped to work on this because I already have a good idea on what backgrounds and CGs I need to make. Although I haven't officially started on the art, it feels good to know how much I need to get done this early on. Full details are in the linked forum!

Hey, I see there could be interesting potential of this parasite-like spirit in Narcissus. The word 'parasite' is pretty strong and it stuck out to me. I like the way that accompanying image is done. And it's not label as horror and such, but I look forward to possible dark undertones if there is any?

Now I went to check the link for Narcissus, which looks very nice! I saw the sprites group together and I agree with you about making Alba's coloring more consistent. It does draw my attention to her more in the group, but yea, I think for the game, it's good idea to have her coloring similar to the others. You can ask other people about it to see how they feel? I have to admit that some parts of the anatomy needs a bit of fixing. Although the drawing style does has this nice sort of charming feel to them. And oh, the image of Alba with the Narcissus behind her is nice and stylish, I like it.

I like the flaws and strengths that each characters have. It's very nice to see character design details, like what lead Mason to having bandages covering his left hand, and why Chris wears sweaters even during the summer. I think you are very good at making relationships and characters sound relatable and real for me. Like with Mason and Chris, Mason doesn't blame Chris for the comparisons but he is understandably still frustrated with him. Plus with Mason not speaking about it, this relationship is something I can vaguely relate to. And I just like the part that Alba and Mason start to get along only after they aren't forced to spend time with each other, again, relatable and sounds real to me.

I like the contrasting relationship between Felicia and Mason, there's tension but they actually get along because of how similar they are to each other. Cecilia's feelings about Chris is understandable and relatable. Same goes for Alba's feelings on Felicia.

It's very nice to see how Felicia's athletic activities help in training Cecilia. It ties Felicia's 'normal' activities to her spirit hunting activities, so the high school setting isn't just sitting there and doesn't feel like you slap it on for just easy storytelling.

I like that Alba feels realistic, She can be nice by wanting to be helpful, but won't go out her comfort zone to just help.

If you want a bit of nitpicking on a few writing errors I found there, then here you go.:

Under Alba's profile, it says '...burden them and asks to train under him.'

Under Cecilia profile, it says '...she and Alba we surprised...'.

Lastly, after reading about what is Narcissus, I can see potential terrible things happening to not just the host, but to the other characters too. Which can be pretty fun....lol. The appearance of the Narcissus sounds pretty unsettling and disturbing. I think it's a good choice, to leave the eyes as last to be consumed. It's interesting to know there's a contrast of nature; their dangerous behavior and their mentality of fear.

At first, although I was interested in the airport setting for Concourses, I didn't felt much towards the overall synopsis. But then I came up with some funny possibilities about the characters. So now I think it could be a fun game.

I'm glad that you found them realistic and relatable in a way, I was afraid that their personalities weren't distinct enough. I don't plan on making this a horror game, since I personally don't take too well to the genre, but it'll be at most suspenseful in a way? I think the funnest thing about this project will be exploring the nature of the Narcissus because of how it is.

Concourses, though is something I haven't fully developed. I hope to develop it more when I have more time to do so, or when the thought comes up to me.

Also thanks for pointing out my typos, I was sure I dealt with them before I made those posts. I'll edit them when I get the chance. but overall, this post was very helpful! I hope you enjoy what I may produce.

Arikawa Makoto - Ever since he was a kid, he always wanted to be a detective, inspired by all of the shows he had watched and the games he had played. Through his diligent nature in pursuing his dream job, he finds himself to be the person he aspired to be. Although, when he volunteered to take on the previously cold case of the cell phone murders, he finds that it can either make or break his career.

- ambitious and hard working
- holds a pretty high success rate for a detective of his age

Ayumu Shinji - Makoto’s childhood friend. Growing up with Makoto, he shared the same dream of becoming a successful detective and worked hard in order to fulfill his dream. Unlike Makoto, he’s more pragmatic in his approach of solving cases. When Makoto accepts the cell phone murder case, he has to become Makoto’s voice of reason to keep him astray. Or is he really feeding him red herrings?

- has kept Makoto grounded ever since they were kids
- at the same time, he supports what ever Makoto decides to do

Noboru Mitsuki - A psychic consultant that regularly assists in cases that seemingly have deficient evidence. He is so confident in his abilities that he claims to be the real deal, but Shinji is skeptic on his abilities and is very reluctant in allowing him to participate in any cases. Despite this, he proves himself to be a reliable consultant. But is this just a part of a grand scheme of his?

- he didn't really do well in school because he used his psychic abilities to get money
- by extension, he doesn't get along with his family that well because of how he misuses his ability.

Hanazono Kaoru - A flowershop/cafe owner who somehow manages to be the key witness of most of Makoto’s cases, with the recent murder not being an exception. His continued involvement in Makoto’s cases have aroused suspicion within the department, but many shrug it off due to his meek nature. But perhaps there’s an underlying reason as to why he’s always present at the scene of the crime?

- inherited the family store from his biological mother
- is pretty unlucky and is almost always at the wrong place at the wrong time

bro i can’t even come up with a decent description right now i literally just thought of this, it’s 3am and this was just supposed to be a warm up before i continue with the sprites but hey i liked the way it turned out so i may use this method?

ANYWAY, i wanted to hop on the bandwagon of a parody vn so seeing as no one has parodied the BL genre, i thought why not?? it’ll be fun! it’s a really problematic genre (come on, let’s be totally honest with ourselves) so i wanted to call out on it’s problems while also averting/subverting from the usual tropes it has

i have not planned aNYTHING OUT AT ALL i literally just thought “you know what would be fun ?? making fun of the bl genre that’d be amazing”

i’m not sure if our sweet sweet mc will be the only one to see his love interests like this and they have no clue at all at what’s happening, or they’ll begin to see him like this too and are just “woah this cant stay the same we need to fix this”

above are the three possible love interests!!

all i know is that one of them has to be the Senpai, the Childhood Friend, or the Delinquent, you know, the basics. one of them will be Super Into It And Actually Likes the MC For A While Now, the other being Well I Never Really Thought About It But This Is Nice I guess, and of course, the token No Homo (But Spoiler: Full Bi)

tbh, I’m pretty sure “Delinquent”-type will be matched with “I never really thought about it” so I’m more on the fence of which personality the Senpai and the Childhood Friend will take

i dunno maybe there’ll be a FOURTH love interest

i do know that there may be a Special End ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

also that this will be completely SFW. if there’s gonna be butt touching involved, it’ll be off screen and may be only mentioned in passing or implied to have happened/will happen in the future

but, yeah

I will definitely come back to this and fix it up when I’m not preoccupied with a bunch of other stuff. I just wanted to throw this into the wind and you know what? I really like how the MC turned out, so I may use this method for my current project, so this isn’t a complete loss/waste of time!

I am back with an improved description/character list for the parody BL vn!! (I still have yet to name it, though!)

At the end of his first year, Saki Ren had come to terms with his sexuality enough to come out to his best friend, Chihiro and by sheer accident, his whole class. To his surprise, all of them (most of them) gave him their support and finally, things started to look up for him! That is, until his parents revealed that they had to move away far enough for him to have to transfer into a new school. While talking about it with Chihiro, they had stopped by a small shop out of curiosity. Unfortunately for him, that curiosity led to him being cursed-- for him to unable to see his possible love interests as who they really are. Thinking that this was just a joke, Ren shrugged it off and went home.

The first day was... alright, as far as any first day goes.

However, when he went to school the next day, he would instantly regret taking the situation lightly.

MC - Saki Ren - 2nd year - The poor sap who has to deal with all of this weird stuff and is pretty reluctant at his options for romance, seeing as they're someone who's a) a "delinquent", b) a "playboy", and c) his childhood friend. That, and the fact that they look like his little sister's drawings. He chooses to try to pursue them anyway so that he doesn't have to look at them in that way anymore.

- Reeeaaaally wishes he had different options to romance.
- Just wants to make it through high school alive at this point, to be honest.

Boyf Option #1 - Kimura Takuya - 2nd year (held back one year tho) - “Delinquent” w/ the “I Never Really Thought About My Sexuality” personality. A lot of people think he’s participating in not-so-legal activities with how much he’s absent of school. Takuya neither confirms or denies these rumors, which only makes Ren more intimidated by him. It doesn't help him that he sits right in front of Takuya. Or the fact that their one-off conversation convinced their teacher that they're close enough for Ren to deliver Takuya's work whenever he's absent since Ryouta can't do it himself.

- Arguably Ryouta's best friend since they were almost always in the same classes every year.
- Just wants to graduate.

Boyf Option #2 - Yamato Ryouta - 3rd year - Senpai w/ the “Ah Yes, I am Into ALL of This, Especially You, Baby ” personality. Honestly, he's a pretty helpful senpai whose search for love is seen as merciless playboy antics. When he meets Ren, he falls for him at first sight, which kind of shocks Ren a little at how quickly it happened. Even though he's mainly interested in Ren, he still likes to go after other people, which honestly bugs Ren a little.

- Thinks that the amount of people he's dated is what gave him the "playboy" title, but in reality, it's his overly friendly and impulsive personality that earned him that title.
- Just wants a nice person to date.

Boyf Option #3 - Tanaka Naoki - 2nd year - Childhood Friend w/ the “No Homo (Spoiler: Full Bi, but only For You)” personality. Super jazzed to see Ren again after so long but struggles real hard on a lot of things, namely, figuring out if he really likes his friend or not. At the same time, Ren is surprised that Naoki is one of his romance options, especially at how much he claims to love girls. Still though, he's the one Ren's most comfortable with.

- Had a crush on Ren at some point before they parted-- was super confused by it.
- Just wants it to be lunch time, to be honest.

MC’s lil sis - Saki Aya - somewhere in junior high...........- Pretty ambitious and cunning for her age. Even though she likes to bug Ren a lot, the two are pretty close and help each other. Because of this, Aya's one of the two people Ren's confided in about his situation.

- She was the first person to know about Ren's sexuality and did her best to get their parents to be okay with it without their knowing.
- Just wants her brother to have the best that he can get.

MC’s bffl - Ishikawa Chihiro - 2nd year - Still at Ren’s old school. Fujoshi probably, but doesn’t like to impose on Ren’s love life. Still offers her support to him anyway and Ren constantly texts her at his new school. She's one of the two people Ren's confided into telling about his situation, so she's really worried that she can't do more for him.

- She and Ren met in their first year of junior high.
- Just wants Ren to be happy.

In regards to character designs, I'm only set on Ren, Aya, and Chihiro's designs so far and maaaybe Takuya's. I feel like I just need to fix Ryouta's up a little but I'm still unsatisfied with what I've come up with for Naoki...

This may or may not be my next project after I complete Swan Lake...................

So I figured out the title! I wanted it to be super salty/bitter, but still emulate the feeling of a usual yaoi manga title, so I hope I achieved that.

From left to right, Ryohei, Takuya, Naoki, and Ren. (I changed Ryouta’s name to Ryohei and Naoki’s surname from Tanaka to Sato because I liked the sound of it better, by the way)

And I stand with my previous comment that using weird yaoi anatomy as a reference felt really weird okay. I also couldn’t stop laughing ?? Because oh, My God, I could’ve done better. The lips could have been bigger, the hair could have been bigger, the hands could have been bigger, EVERYTHING COULD HAVE BEEN BIGGER.

I also censored out the dude’s “real” faces because I’m not sure if I wanna reveal them yet or have it as a big reveal at the end. It’s such a shame though, since I spent a lot of time working on their hair styles.

- Initially Not About This Life, but warmed up to Penny once she got to know her.

Penelope “Penny” Richardson - A ghost who has no idea why she’s a ghost and got attached to Allyson for some reason.
- Has actually followed Allyson for a week, but found out that she can’t see or hear her.
- A pretty weak ghost, can’t even move stuff around.
- But, she managed to learn how to control Allyson’s left hand.
- Started to communicate with Allyson through notes.
- Just wants to know why she’s a ghost or what happened to her.
- Wants to befriend Allyson, since she isn’t as attached to anyone else as much.
