Pre-splashes causing crashes on some setups

#1 Post by Scalemail » Thu May 19, 2016 6:51 pm

I had included a presplash in the vn I'm working on due to the load time. Unfortunately, I've had to remove it because it was causing crashes on my backup laptop.

When the game launches (either dist or from renpy) it displays the presplash but then the game doesn't launch.

The laptop is an ASUS transformer book with an intergrated i5, running windows 8. The crash doesn't give tracebacks, so this is all the information I have.

Any reason why including a presplash might cause a vn to not launch on some setups?

No clue. Is there any actual info about the crash?

There is no actual info. I was only able to figure out that the presplash was causing the crash by trial and error.

It at least doesn't seem very common, as I've only experienced it myself on a very specific laptop setup.

In rare case, some (wrong) png causes crash applications. How is it be with a different image file?
