Editra Development
I noticed that Editra doesn't support Split View. So I went to the Editra website shown on the About window, but had a fair bit of trouble finding a way to send feedback. This led to my friend and I finally discovering that development for it ceased in 2015.
And yet, its version number as given on the Ren'Py site and its own About window exactly matches Ren'Py's (6.99.10, or 0.6.99, depending on where you're looking), and notably doesn't match the latest version on Editra's own site (0.7.25). The About window also says 2005-2016. Unless the version number is a coincidence and the date on the About window auto-updates somehow, this would seem to indicate that Editra is being developed in tandem with Ren'Py. Yet I can't find any indication that this is the case; the About window still has the original developer's info, and as far as I know there's nothing on GitHub, the Ren'Py site, or this forum about Editra being developed by Ren'Py.
Is the Ren'Py team now developing Editra? If so, why is there no indication of this anywhere? And if not, why is it not only still being used, but still the recommended editor?

We include Editra since we haven't packaged a replacement yet.

Re: Editra Development
i believe that would depend on the availability of stable versions of Atom for Mac and Linux systems.
jEdit is still my editor of choice, because Editra never worked well on non-English systems.

No, sorry! You must be mistaking me for someone else.

Re: Editra Development
So then I assume you guys are the ones matching the Editra version with the Ren'Py version?PyTom wrote:We include Editra since we haven't packaged a replacement yet.

Re: Editra Development
Well, it's more of an artifact of the Ren'Py packaging process than anything intentional.
