Characters:
Cassandra: The heroine of this story would much prefer to take a quiet nap in the sun rather than save the world, but since no one else is going to do anything about her visions she considers it her responsibility to do so. She is gentle and deliberate, but does not hesitate to voice her views when something is wrong in her eyes.
Special Ability: Seer. Can see what the next enemy in line will do before they do it.
Signature Attack: Purrfect Hit. Uses her sight to see enemy weak spots for a very high crit chance.
Other Favorites: Catnap, Lion's Roar
Cerberus: Cerberus is a street dog who seems sometimes to have three identities, depending on who he's dealing with. In any state though, he is a ferocious fighter and leader of his own gang of strays. His name is legendary, far more than his stature.
Special Ability: Complacency. Enemies take it easy against Cerberus because of his small size, resulting in an attack debuff for all adjacent enemies.
Signature Attack: Triple Jaw. A vicious 3-hit attack to one target.
Other Favorites: Ankle Bite, Hamstring
Cyrus: Cyrus is Cerberus's lieutenant and is a very straight-laced, no-nonsense sort of dog. He's extremely loyal to his boss and gets offended when others mistake him for the great pack leader.
Special Ability: Bodyguard. Defense boost for all adjacent allies.
Signature Attack: Triple Fang. Modeled after his boss' special attack, Triple Fang is a 3-target single-hit attack.
Other Favorites: Fierce Bark, Intimidation
Gerald: Gerald the seagull originally hails from Britain, but he'll tell anyone that Sicily is his favorite place in the world, though he won't explain why. He is well-traveled and knowledgeable about various trivia. Instead of being erudite in his mannerisms though he is actually a bit rough, like a sailor.
Special Ability: Fast Flier. Gerald can attack anything from up to 2 squares away, even if the move's range is 1.
Signature Attack: Dive Bomb. Grows stronger the farther away from the enemy you start.
Other Favorites: Vertical Annoyance, Poop
Apollo: Apollo is the god of the Sun and of Music. He did something a while back to anger Zeus, and is now stuck in the body of a swan, an animal sacred to him. He's gone a little kooky during his imprisonment, and sings rather than speaks most of the time. Don't take him for granted, though, because he is still a powerful god.
Special Ability: Fleet: Speed boost to all adjacent allies.
Signature Attack: Swan Song. A powerful attack to all enemies within 2 squares, but it cuts Apollo's HP.
Other Favorites: Sing, Sunshine
Artemis: Artemis is Apollo's twin sister, and she is also stuck in a swan's body for the same fiasco, for which she rightly blames her brother. She is an especially vicious realist and has somehow managed to hunt even in this body. She doesn't like males much.
Special Ability: Certainty. Accuracy boost for all adjacent allies.
Signature Attack: Silver Arrow. A guaranteed hit with a big bleed chance.
Other Favorites: Goddess of the Hunt, Moonlight
Minerva: Minerva is a little owl in service to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war strategy. Want help from her? You'll get it, just expect a healthy side order of sarcasm to go with it. Minerva was sent to look after Cassandra, but she is not thrilled with a babysitting assignment. She's capable and very knowledgeable -- but everything comes with grumbling and snarky jokes to keep herself amused while stuck on a job she considers below her. Underneath all the sass, though, she does have a caring and benevolent heart -- otherwise she wouldn't have gotten into the job to begin with.
Special Ability: Multitasker. Minerva can carry an item (in her talons) and still fight at the same time.
Signature Attack: Rake. A small attack with a huge blind chance.
Other Favorites: Nike's Call, Athena's Grace
Lito: Lito is a Quaker parrot - designated to be one of the game's healer classes. He lives in a feral population of Quaker parrots in a park. He is a third-generation wild bird -- his grandparents were pets and he's grown up listening to their stories about their time living with humans. As a result, he's become rather obsessed with humans and wants nothing else but to be adopted by a human and live a pampered pet life. His wild brothers and sisters think he's a bit of an oddball for wanting to give up his freedom, though. Unfortunately, it's not common practice for people to adopt stray birds like it is stray cats and dogs! Lito is also known to stutter when excited.
Special Ability: Heal Thyself. When Lito skips his turn, he regenerates HP.
Signature Attack: Revive. Revives a fallen ally and returns them to the field.
Other Favorites: Various Heals, Esotico
Rouge: Rouge is a fox, native to the forests closer to Mt Etna. Naturally, she wouldn't normally be found in the city. For reasons she will not easily disclose, she has come all the way to the city in order to search for someone -- whether a friend or beloved, she remains tightly-lipped about. Either way, Rouge is a fox who speaks very little about herself. She is fantastic at dodging questions and could probably take home a gold medal in talking circles around topics she does not wish to discuss. Rouge is not afraid to get her hands (or paws, technically) dirty and is the sort of fox who prefers to let her actions speak over her words. So taking that into consideration, although Rouge can appear quite self-serving, for those causes she dedicates herself to, she will stop at nothing to see them to the end.
Special Ability: Sniff Out: When Rouge is on the field, there's an increased chance of food drops.
Signature Attack: Munch: Rouge eats some of the enemy, harming them and replenishing her own health.
Other Favorites: Thief, Faux Fire
Valeria: She's a country chicken who hails from a farm in the rural areas of Catania. What is she doing in the city? Ticking things off her bucket list. Somehow she's gotten into her head that her time is nigh and her owners are going to serve her up for Sunday lunch, so before she ends up on the dinner plate she wants to see the sights of Sicily. This is in complete disregard for the fact that she is an egg-laying breed, of course. Valeria is a very motherly hen, who has raised scores of chickens and fostered many other birds around her farm. A very traditional bird, she values manners and good morals highly -- to the point where it is not unknown for her to lecture everyone and anyone about how a proper being should behave. She is not afraid to peck or clip any large animal around the ears for rude behaviour. Valeria has a heart of gold, and a colloquial country vernacular to boot. She is your classical mother hen figure.
Special Ability: Mother Hen. XP boost to all adjacent allies.
Signature Attack: Lay Egg. Creates a food drop for an ally to eat, which replenishes their HP.
Other Favorites: Clucka-Mob, General Tso
Gameplay:
Each battle, you will begin with choosing your characters to include. How many you’re allowed depends on the battle, as does the possible starting positions. If there are any required characters for the battle, those will be automatically placed. Once everyone you want is placed, you can begin the battle.
Turn order is decided by characters’ speeds, or AGI. Quicker characters will have fewer turns before they can act again.
Characters that trust Cassandra enough are playable, while those that don’t act according to their AI. When it’s a playable character’s turn, you will see a highlight on the field showing you where you can move. Click on one of those spaces or on a character in range to move to the appropriate square. After that, if you haven’t already chosen your target character, you need to click on them. Then a menu will let you choose from that character’s available attacks. Select one and away it goes!
Stats drive everything in battle, from hit chance to damage calculations. Each character has the following stats: STR, DEX, INT, END, LUK, AGI, and MOV.
- Strength (STR) is one part of the damage calculation.
- Dexterity (DEX) affects hit chance as well as crit chance for regular attacks.
- Intellect (INT) affects damage calculations for special attacks, as well as hit and crit chances for special attacks. It also determines your maximum Ability Points (AP).
- Endurance (END) determines your maximum number of Hit Points (HP) and your defenses against attacks.
- Luck (LUK) affects most calculations in a smaller way.
- Agility (AGI) affects turn speed.
- Movement (MOV) is how many squares a character can move in one turn.
- Bleeding characters steadily lose HP each turn.
- Blind characters get a -50% to hit.
- Stunned characters can't act at all
- Silenced characters can't use special attacks
- Charmed characters fight for the enemy
