Thanks for bringing up Katamari. On one April Fools Day, I was trying to think up a "ZOMG, Katamari Damacy is now a dating sim" joke, and then I realized there's a part of game #1 in which the Prince is supposed to roll up girls, and a part of game #2 called "Katamari Memorial." That got me thinking, "whoa... Katamemo..."

A ren'ai game based on Illusion Of Gaia would probably benefit by being written by someone at KID or Cyberfront. The original SNES game is surreal as well as sad, so I figure that if anyone could make it work, the staff behind Ever17 could.

River City Ransom: [cue BGM "We Fight for Love"] This one is so crazy that it just might work. To use a plot summary right from TVTropes: "...Alex and Ryan fight their way past gang territories and various malls to get to River City High, take down Slick, and rescue Ryan's girlfriend." You could go two ways with it. One - play it straight and make the main characters fight just so they can get back together with a love interest. Or do the "Brokeback Youtube method" and make the two heroes fall in love with each other.

early Atelier games: before "Iris," every game had a female lead. And one major part of every game (at least the older ones...) is item fusion. So why not create a fantasy RPG setting in which two heroines have to work together? A cute girls love game.
