Preload assets and large images

#1 Post by JayBlue »

I've been using very high quality images but when the images are shown, there is a lag and it takes a little too long to show the image. And this happens for all the large images.

So what I want to ask is, how do you preload assets so that the game doesn't have to have small lag spikes. I would rather load a bunch of assets at the same time and have a proper loading screen than have it lag every time I show a character or a background.
If an Owl hoots in a forest, does it make a sound?

Increase image cache size and play around with image prediction should help.

Here are the link to some posts and documentation on the subject:
- Is there a way to load more data to memory?
- Optimizing Animation Framerate and Cache Pin
- config.image_cache_size
