Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
Some people take dating sims WAY too seriously. Like this guy.

If he's serious, I think he really needs to see at least a therapist... What caused his repulsion of real people? Or maybe this is just a coping mechanism... I personally think the latter is more likely it. And if that's the case, I sincerely hope it's a short-term thing. But really, in any case, he needs to see a therapist.

Strange, funny, and sad. I wonder if the law is going to be legalized? Although it probably won't. Besides, the author/creator would object (since if someone can marry a fictional character, may be the author will do it first).
What a strange world we live in...

BTW, how if one character has already married to another guy? Can we married her as well? Is it going to be "first come first served" competition?

Ive heard of having a crush on a cartoon character, but that is ridiculous. seeking marriage to a cartoon or manga character is.....well how does one even go about doing that? Marrying paper? In my own opinion, I think this is crap. I fail to see how one can have the pleasure of seriously marrying a cartoon character. How would you discuss things? You cant talk to paper and expect a reply. How do you have one to help with everyday things? The only paper that helps with the bills is money. And for heaven's sake people, WHERES THE SEX? unless one finds pleasure in rubbing their parts on paper, but that's beyond me.
My point is, marrying a fictional character is the same as not being married at all, as far as serious matters go, and by serious matters I mean work, money, that sort of thing. Maybe one finds himself happy saying hes married to a cartoon character, but other than that its crazy. Not to mention how out of hand things will get when 2 people want to marry the same cartoon character. Its already a mess with real people, at least in the ghetto it is.
As n0ughts said, maybe its just a coping mechanism, or the dude is just straight up crazy.
Good Lord, seeing things like this just make you want to say, in the words of the Temptations, "Ball of confusion, that's what the world is today"

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
mikey made a parody of this - Marry Me, Misato! - and I thought it was a take on this originally....is this guy serious? It sounds like he is pulling a prank...if this guy is serious about it....that's messed up.

hopefully this is a prank, but for a prank, gathering over 1000 signatures on a petition is kinda pushing it if you ask me.

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
If you're going to fall in love with a fictional character, you should have at least enough respect for that character to acknowledge that she doesn't know you, she doesn't love you, and she doesn't want to marry you. If you can't respect your partner's wishes, you shouldn't marry anybody, fictional or otherwise.

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
I'd classify it as an infatuation rather than love. Or, if it is love, then it's unrequited love because it is one way only. I remember reading a news article about a woman who married a dolphin; I forget in which country. Anyway, who are we to denounce someone who believes they have found their one and only? Let the man enjoy his deluded fantasy if it makes him happy and less prone to stab random pedestrians. Granted the fact that he is dragging other people into this and making a big show about it is unreasonable, selfish and vain.
Marriage is overrated, besides. If he was creative the marriage could exist even without the petition - although the path I am hinting at is completely illegal. :|

Someone needs to load these people up on birth control and have them knock boots, stat. The scary article wrote:According to one survey, 1 in 4 Japanese men between 30-34 is a virgin. The situation isn’t much better for the girls, where 1 in 4 has not had sex for a year, according to another survey.

It happened for many others things, like doll, animals...it's just a way to express "love" (or I would say fetish)...and the paramount of this is usually the heritage left, remember the rich woman who made her dog the richest dog in the world after her death?
Well, people can do what they want with their love and their money, there's often a story behind this (bad or good, who know?).

That's... If he's delusional, he's not... rubbing paper, or even aware that the woman (I'm assuming it's female) he loves doesn't exist. Depending on how messed up he is, I see these possible scenarios:
Ugh. These people (he and everyone else who signed that petition) really need help. And pity... Stigma only makes everything worse. He'll resent society and/or his fellow human beings more. If he sees society and his fellow human beings as "unreliable" (I hope it makes sense), then he'll (subconsciously) retreat more into his delusion; he won't go to anyone for help.
Worst scenario? Stigma gets so bad he starts getting other delusions... That it's causing his beloved distress, that his beloved wants him to kill people, that other people are actually out to get him... or he could simply murder (indiscriminately, the people he thinks hate him, the people he hold as responsible, normal married couples, etc.) out of rage. I don't know how his head works, how it's wired. But worst scenario, crimaney...

- He goes on living life with a delusion. As in, he does every day things, but at the end of the day, he believes in things that never actually happened.
- Sometimes, he's still... Catatonic state. And he day dreams. And even when someone snaps him out of it, he still thinks those are real memories.
- If he's got it bad, he hallucinates too. As in, he hears her voice, feels her warmth, he laughs with her... He could suddenly start smiling or talking to someone, you know?
- If he's got it worse, then all he does is hallucinate. When he goes to the park she's with her, holding his hand. When he goes to bed she's right by him. He even hears the toilet flush when she uses it... She's part of his every day life.
- Alternatively he can sit in his house all day in a catatonic state, day dreaming, unaware he is.

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
I think it works like having an imaginary friend based on the character he likes...?
For most kids with imaginary friends, it goes away when you grow up and spend more time with your friends or family.
If an adult has that problem, then it's a person with a really good imagination that could be focused in something more useful, like writting. Then just going to therapy for a while and making friends and spending time with them would solve the problem. I've heard of cases that ended up being quite normal and happy people.

When drawing something, anything, USE REFERENCES!! Use your Google-fu!
Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

Being delusional and hallucinating doesn't mean you're creative. XD

Re: Otaku wants to legally marry a manga character
I can't believe this... it just sounds TOOOOO much like Mikey's game in every detail. And it doesn't cite any ACTUAL sources... so i can only believe this to be a big harry hoax... either way I think Mickey is in one way or another (at least indirectly) responsible for it.
