Nice contest! I'd show mine but most of the game screen is in black (the main character is blind after all) and showing anything beyond that is not even a consideration. <_<; But hey - if you're working on something, I'd like to see too! :is too lazy to slog through WIP section:

Uh, I don't really get this contest. What is this contest all about? Could you please give more explanation?

Is this a screenshot contest? Or a game contest?

As I understand it, it's just a screenshot contest, but it's primarily intended to group everyone's Cool Pictures together so we can all see all the neat stuff everyone's working on and feel excited without having to pick through dozens of WIP threads. :)

Part of the motivation for this is also to get people to spend a little time coming up with new looks for their game. You probably won't win with the standard Ren'Py textbox, but you'll also need to balance uniqueness with readability and such other constraints.

Ugh, that's tough...

What kind of screenshoot we should use? Normal one (with sprite and BG) or CGs (special event graphics)?

I guess you should choose the one that you think is the best. Sounds interesting, and it will be nice to see what others are coming up with. I hope I can get some good screenshoots before the deadline...

Oooh I'll definitely take part in this. Guess I have to speed up my attempts at customizing the interface (still need a few things here and there.)

As long as you'll see it in-game, it's fine. :3 technically, you can even post a screenshot of your loading screen. Just remember that you'll have both an artist and a programmer judging it.

mmm, can we see a template post on how we should submit screenies before we actually start uploading?

They go in this thread or there will be a screen submission thread? (leaving this one for discussion, thus random text and stuff won't separate the entries, clutter things, etc.)

I think that's OK, just so long as the screenshots look exactly as they do in the game (that's how I understood that rule?)

Basically, what you submit should be a screenshot of the game, made by typing S in ren'py or with some sort of screenshot tool for other engines.

To clarify the criteria I will be judging on:

- The quality and placement of in-game art, such as sprites. backgrounds, and CGs
- The quality and usability of the in-game interface.
- How well the two compliment each other. An LCARS-inspired interface might be an accomplishment*, but if you put it in a game about highschool dating, that seems just wrong to me.

I'd suggest at least one of the screenshot be of an in-game, character sprite, background, and dialogue scene, with enough dialogue that we can get a sense of how dialogue looks in your game. (i.e. not a "..." line.)

* Actually, LCARS is over-done. Don't use it.

This might sound silly but what is an LCARS interface?
