How do I customize Main Menu + Dialogue menus?

I'm reading
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9812 and it feels like it's really outdated since I couldn't even find a lot of the things that the poster mentioned.
So, yeah. How should I start going about all of this customization? I'm willing to learn harder programms/techniques if they will provide me better results in the end.

That tutorial refers to the old GUI. For the new GUI there's a new documentation.

The guide is a little old, but sometimes easier to follow than the docs. Read through the basics and then go to the end of the replies to see how the code's been updated since. ^^
How to change setting menu appearance?

Iam new using renpy, and need help to change game main menu appearance, setting menu appearance, and save & load appearance. I want to change button position and button image. can someone help me?
