Catgirl: Panic! Rereleased

#1 Post by kuroi »

The long wait is over! The completely redone version of Catgirl: Panic! has been released!
This version is non-hentai and completely free!

The Story
The staff of Kuroi Games usually has a lot on their hands: hectic deadlines, programming glitches, an insane boss... Little do they know that they should have left a little more time in the development schedule to deal with an alien invasion. Ready or not, they are soon swept up in the invasion plans of an alien cat-girl army. Join the Kuroi Games crew as they face down invading aliens, angry penguins, and still try to get their game out on time!

The Plans
The version we currently have out is the non-erotic free version of Catgirl: Panic. We plan to put out two more versions of the game, the directors cut and the adult versions but we can't make these other games versions without one important thing: you.

That's right, we need you to play Catgirl: Panic and then head over to the forums and tell us what you want to see in the directors cut and Adult editions of Catgirl: Panic! Let your imagination run wild because if your idea is even remotely possible, there's a very good chance you'll see it in an updated version of the game!

The Directors Cut will have everything you loved about Catgirl Panic! Free Version and much, much more. The Director's cut will feature a much longer plot plus a whole bunch of extras.

The Adult Edition is a special edition for all the hentai lovers out there. This is the edition where Kuroi Games does what we do best. The Adult edition has everything included in the director's cut plus all the hot hentai action that you know you've been wanting.

Download
Download the game from the Catgirl: Panic info site on the completely revamped Kuroi Games website!

Apparently when I'm half asleep I say funny things. She put that line in there cuz that's something I actually said one day when I was half asleep.

I'm still confused as to the gender of the protagonist.

Which is good, since I refuse to believe that the only exposed nipples in the game are on a dude.

It's called a "shirt", and an important design criteria is that it is opaque. Either long sleeves or short sleeves are a requirement, while anything shorter than short sleeves are forbidden.

In conclusion, I'd like all male game protagonists to dress like non-monty-python lumberjacks.

LOL Pytom wins.

I was gonna leave the shirt alone but in honor of pytom's epic win, I promise that the other game versions will feature an opaque shirt.

I just hope that PyTom realises that the more he boasts his homophobia as if it's something to be proud of, the more he makes me want to create a game with cute girls and spaceflight that has surprise Yaoi.
Or even better, talk about it then make a game with spaceflight and no yaoi so he's afraid to play something he'd otherwise enjoy. ;-)

If you can't even look at Kenshiro's naked chest without fretting about shirts, there's something seriously wrong with you!

I have no problem with man-chests... but I think it's apparent to all that by putting on a shirt, the original art is vastly improved.

lol Well, I guess I succeeded in creating the worlds most controversial shirt EVER~ There should be a nobel prize for that.

Does anyone out there have any non-shirt related thoughts about the game? Has anyone actually played it yet or did everyone just think philisophically about the shirt?

Well I actually enjoyed it enough, especially after watching Queen's Blade.
Not everything has to be Eden of the East; there's a time and place for everything.

My only gripes:
* it's a bit too linear; it seems like there are only 2 endings. It would have helped if the choices (there are only 3 or so I think) had more impact on the plotline than a paragraph which essentially serves no purpose than to railroad the story back onto its singular track.
* changing the main menu system to something else would have given a better impression... all the other customizations are fine, such as the animations; but an outline layout or anything other than blue roundrect would suffice.
* the voices aren't normalized... some were definitely much louder than others, it was hard for me to settle on a consistent volume. You could have normalized them easily in Audacity by scaling their amplitude. They sufficed though... it isn't as if this were anime and the characters spoke normally for once instead of some fake high-pitched voice.
* some text which I thought would skip didn't -- maybe use jump labels instead of two separate text blocks which contain exactly the same paragraphs (I didn't look at the scripts... just guessed based on behavior).
* was one ending supposed to auto-exit the game?

The extensive revisions since the last version of the story were worthwhile for playing the game again. I suppose there is a market for poser porn after all.

Thanks so much for the feedback, DaFool~

I can definately say that the director's cut and adult edition will have a much less linear plotline. We haven't really decided what those plot branches are going to be yet because that all has to do with what characters and such that people like the best in the game. So, if you've got anyone you wanna see more ( or less ) of just let me know~

Also, since you pointed out the problems with the voice sound consistancy and the game exiting after one of the endings, I've gone ahead and pulled an allnighter to fix both of those issues and uploaded the fixed versions to the kuroi games website. lol How's that for customer service~

Since the link was taken down before I could even finish downloading, I can only tell you one thing to improve.

Clicking on the link prompts me to a +18 verification link. Knowing the content of the former version of it, I don't think it is even mature material, so why I have to be age +18 to play it is beyond me.

Next, clicking on "Enter The Site" does not even get me straight to the game, but to the homepage. It actually takes two more clicks to reach the download link for said game. Sure, it is not a big deal, that is if we do not have NSFW images littered all over the place.

Try direct-linking or something. Seriously, I won't be complaining if this is in LHH, but it isn't.
