Plot:

The story takes place when Doll wakes up alone and lost in a forest. A dismembered voice advices Doll that he must escape the forest or be lost to the dangers that lurk within the darkness. Doll soon discover that not all is what it seems in the forest.

Features:

-5 endings ( some are dead ends )
-some choices with consequences
- 10 - 20 minute play time. ( estimate of 2k words)

This started as a challenge to myself to make a game under a time limit.
I exceeded the planned time limit, I'm still going on since I hope to make a few more games after Doll.
This game will be free to play.

Time limit: 48 hours

Time used so far: 60+ hours

Breakdown:

1h = Planning
2h = reviewing possible software/game engines to use
1.5h = quick concept arts
4.3h = DL renpy and browsing the documentation
5h = accidentally spent too long doing art(Bgs are my weakpoint)
9h = art and coding. alot of trial and error on the coding and searching for help
8h = problems in coding
3h = writing the flow of the story
5h = art and coding
3h = prototyping image map and alot of troubleshooting again
5h = redrawing bgs
2.5h = art & gui editing
From here the dev log is no longer accurate because i worked on Doll on and off

This is an interesting premise. Does the game fall under the horror genre, or does it mean closer to mystery?

I found out how to change the mouse cursor and edited the choice idle and hover

Oooh, a horror/mystery combo sounds awesome! ^_^ I really like that screencap, it really does a great job of showing how overwhelmed the doll is at their situation.

Progress for today

I managed to prototype an image map but encountered alot of trouble along the way. Used total of 3 hours to trouble shoot.
I was hoping to make the dialogue box moth themed but looks like it didn't go as planned.

Polishing the bgs so far!

And the map for the game! definitely prettier now than my last post.

I'm slowly getting back into development of Doll.
I got side tracked and wanted to improve my art skills, but also things were stressful it was hard to work on Doll afterwork.

Update:
Writing: 50% done
2 of 5 endings are done

I'm doing some rough concept art on my sketchbook. and I think maybe im 50% done? but thats with the characters... Backgrounds are really my weakest point :c but atleast this project is helping m challenge this weakness.

Half way done writing the script for 3rd location
I am recoding the game and remaking the assests. I didn't get too far in my first file so it should be easy to catch up.
