Our Mountain takes place in an isolated region of ancient Japan. One day Kumiko, a woman living alone on the mountaintop, finds two soaked Yokai in her home. Unable to cross the flooding river due to melting snow and ice, they must stay with her until the river recedes. As they live together their true reason for descending the mountain becomes apparent, thrusting Kumiko into a difficult situation-one that could paint the valley in blood. Will she choose her gut feeling, or will she be swayed by the yokai's words?

The idea is super interesting to me - I think the trope of "[insert supernatural creature] and human fall in love" is done quite a bit, but depending on which creature it is and how the story plays out with regards to the characters' differences, it can definitely still make for a fresh and interesting story. c: I'm also always down for stories that explore darker themes, that part really caught my attention.

Thanks for your feedback! The story definitely starts out a tad typical but the player can quickly see that there's more to them that meets the eye. Plus, instead of the Yokai being more romanticized Our Mountain shows their darker, more animalistic sides. I can't wait to show you more! ^_^

The demo should be done by the end of this week/early next week. ^^

Also we will be starting a Kickstarter campaign (Dont worry, the game will still be free) to help fund some of the assets and possibly get neat extra features

I do worry slightly about the success of Kickstarters for free games, but I suppose it has worked in the past. Perhaps people will be drawn to the Kickstarter campaign itself, never know.

Story is slightly iffy, since we know so little. Nothing wrong with a small cast, but I do wonder about how things will be handled. Too little shown off to make a solid judgement at the moment. Guess we'll have to wait for the demo and such. Do you have any social media accounts? I wanted to say that the text in the char profiles are really hard to read. It's nice to have a good thematic with the text, but I don't know. I feel legibility of text should be paramount. I'm fairly guilty of over-styling my own graphics and text. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback! To be honest I'm a tad worried about the Kickstarter too-I'm not asking thousands like many paid games require (that I've seen on the site at least). Just enough for a few more CGs and logo (I'm using commercial free music and sound effects). If more is raised then I'll add in more features. As for the story, I may update the description here. It isn't exactly a spoiler, per se, since the main idea behind the plot/story is how you react. I actually have some updated character profiles and banners that will be coming soon! ^^ As for social media, I have a few no-traffic tumblr blogs and occasionally post stuff on my instagram.

Updated the original graphics as well as the story description!

The demo is half written/made! It will be fairly short, showcasing the basic gameplay and characters, including one choice. I have to add in the second part and some BGM + sound effects and then it'll be ready for release! ^^
