basic character art needed for sci-fi WIP...

#1 Post by conradcook » Fri May 29, 2009 9:06 pm

Guys, I just wrote this whole post and then bumped the back arrow and lost my data. So bear with me..

I'm writing a VN. It's actually kind of big and complicated, so I'm writing it with a CYOA editor (http://www.sandman.connectfree.co.uk/prog/gamebook.htm -- free!). I'm pretty sure I'll be able to take its output and convert it into a Ren'Py file using a text tool. Plus some editing.

I'm at that point where I'd like to be productive when I'm all written out. Especially, I want to work on the storyboarding.

I'm looking for basic, Eileen-style characters for:

A hero (starship captain)
A heroine (first mate; tomboy)
An alien (astrogator; blue)
A villian (bald; older)
An engineer and a few talking extras

I need 1-4 to have resolution (or be scalable) appropriate for close-ups, include profile and quarter-turn views, and have the basic emotions.

I'm pretty good with picture editing, so with even just outlines I can do the rest. Line art would be ideal, in fact.

I've tried a few avatar creators online, and they're nice, but they just don't have the range -- they don't show more than one orientation, for example, and usually not multiple emotions.

Creative Commons is fine, provided I can edit the characters.

I've tried making them myself, and they came out really mutinous looking...

How about it? Can anybody cook me up four charactes, plus a few talking extras?

Conrad.
