Want to play a sound effect for letters being read in

#1 Post by Vyse »

Hey, after being a fan of VN games for a long time, I thought I might take a stab at doing it myself.

My question is in the title, can I play a sound effect that makes a noise for each letter being read in a section of dialogue/text?

A good example would be the phoenix wright games.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR6m7H8ltxw (Ignore the guy narrating as he plays).

But hear how as a person talks, it plays that small sound effect?

I'm hoping it's something simple, if not, that's alright too, I'm just trying to figure out what I can and can't do.

Thanks for any answers

(I get the feeling by looking at how this Ren'Py works, it's not a simple task)

EDIT: Thinking about it, and trying a few different things with the audio commands hasn't turned up any magical strategy short of timing each piece of dialogue and play the music accordingly. I don't think using this would be very effective with still images anyway.

ahh, more evidence in how hard it is to search in this forum. In this case the keyword that worked was "typewriter."

here's the topic explaining this one:

Aye, I should have searched first.
My mistake.

I'll give it a go and see if it works.

Thanks a bunch :)
