[CLOSED][PAID] Looking for (a) editorial assessment and (b) beta readers for a sci-fi mystery

[UPDATE -- All positions filled, thanks so much to those interested!]

Hello; I’m looking for beta readers for a draft-complete visual novel script. Professional experience isn't required, just some passion for the genre.

I'm willing to offer some $$ compensation if you get through the full script and provide some written commentary and feedback back. Alternately, I'm also open to doing a feedback exchange if you're working on a VN script yourself and would like a fresh set of eyes and advice.

==THE PROJECT==

That Long Cold Night (see Ideas post) is a full-length (145,000 words), mostly-linear sci-fi/horror/mystery visual novel with six routes branching off of a short common route that tell overlapping versions of the same events from multiple characters’ perspectives. There is some violence and strong language and no sexual content.

I'm happy for any type of feedback; some suggestions are:
  • Impressions of the characters and their development; who you liked and didn't and why
  • Feedback on the pacing & coherency of each individual route on its own
  • Impressions on the central themes and mysteries in the work; which answers are ultimately satisfying/unsatisfying and why
  • Feedback on the overall ending
  • Hot-spots and cold-spots -- particular scenes or series of scenes that land well or drag
The master text is currently in a Google doc (see sample for a sense of style and formatting) for easier reading.

==HOW TO APPLY==

I’m happy to answer questions in this thread, via PM here, or at thatlongcoldnight on gmail.

I’d love to hear about your past VN experience (as a creator or a reader), any criticism/literary analysis experience you have, or just tell me why this project interests you, and tell me about your favorite mystery in a visual novel and why it spoke to you.

I'm happy to take anyone, but I’d especially encourage Black, Indigenous and/or LGBTQ+ folks to consider reaching out if the project interests you.

All the best,
~rook17
