I really need help uploading my game builds to Steam

#1 Post by Raharabin » Fri Dec 04, 2020 9:25 am

Hi there,

I guess this might be a bit of an unusual request, but I need help uploading my game build onto steam.

I'm trying to upload my first game to steam, and it will not work no matter what I've tried. I've tried to upload it using their Steampipegui and manually, and neither has worked, and I have spent hours upon hours trying to troubleshoot these problems and have made absolutely no progress whatever.
I need someone I can send the game files to, then give them permission to fully update the game build section on steam. I'm willing to pay for this but I have absolutely no idea how much it should be.

It's really not that difficult. Steam's interface is a mess, but if you know where to press it's a matter of a few clicks. Here is the tutorial series that might help you:

Also there is an official documentation on steamworks and it's fairly detailed.

I haven't seen this tutorial series before, so I'll give it a try. Hopefully it goes better than my previous attempts.
Thank you for the link!!!

Okay, quick update. It has not worked at all, I am still having the same problem.
'Public Default Branch Includes 'IWanttoFly.exe'
I have double and triple checked and the file name is accurate. I've rebuild the depot from scratch 3 times, I've even reloaded the entire build using renpy build distributions. Nothing has worked. :(

It might be that your game is inside a folder (which it shouldn't be). If you're uploading using SDK all your files including executable should be directly in 'content' folder.

You know, that might actually be the problem! :O I'll be so glad to have this solved, yet also incredibly embarrassed that it's something so simple.
Thank you for the continued help! I don't currently have the time to check to see if this fixes it, but I'll try to update this again soon!
