Need Writer

I work on many visual novels, but the only thing I can't seem to do is write. I can create excellent professional music, I can program quite well, and I love doing things that let my creativity flow. I am kind of a jack-of-all-trades, but I would like to have a story to write with. When I try to do a story with something I wrote, it doesn't turn out the way I would like it to. I have worked wonderfully with other stories. I would like to have at least a basic outline, because I can at least fill in the gaps, or even a full story. The novel will NOT be sold, but will be free to download. Anyone who has ideas would be of great assistance, as well.

I would be willing to write for you, and can provide sample works. Fanfic, mostly, but some original work.

I would ask for a little money, but not much, to justify time spent away from school and work. Negotiable.

I specialize in character-based writing, and heavy symbolism.

I do apologize, but I am unable to pay anyone any kind of money online at the moment. It's not that I don't want to, it's that I can't. My online computer (I have 2, one online and one that isn't, which is where I do most of my work) is not working well, and I can't take chances. I only meant stories, samples, or ideas that were distributed to me free of charge. I will understand completely if anyone can't do so. I don't mean to sound like a cheapskate, but I can't do much else. It would be unimaginably appreciated if any number of people were to give me ideas.

Perhaps you should consider taking a look over some of the recruiting threads in Works in Progress & Recruitment. There is most likely a good number of people there looking for either a programmer or a composer.

Or both, such as myself...xD;

I have to agree with Tsuki, there are quite a few people in the work and progress section asking for help. Some of them only have an idea but nothing solid (by that I mean something done on renpy) such as a game engine or art etc. Someone like you can easily take their ideas and make them a reality. Although I must say, its very surprising you even need a story teller. I'd have thought everyone who wanted to make a visual novel had an idea of what they wanted to make in terms of storyline and character profiles.

On the side note, Tsuki is a perfect example. He has a story set up but is recruiting for programmers, artists, musicians etc.

Might be easier to put up a thread saying VN developer looking for work, will transform your ideas into reality. I think that would be a quick way of getting some work.

I can write an outline well enough, I think. It's filling the gaps that I really don't like doing, I guess, because it bores me. That's probably why I usually only manage to finish short stories (like below 5000 words). My favorite activity is probably worldbuilding.

I can't seem to stop writing... that's my problem... I just gave myself a 125,000 word overhead, if I hit it, great, if not, even better.

If you don't like filling in the gaps, it's because they're boring. The technique is called summarizing. Learn how to use it, love it, and gloss over all those dull parts that aren't even world-building. We don't want to hear about the main character's fifty minute car ride. Just say "I drove for fifty minutes until I reached her house, bothered by thoughts of our futures and the argument we had just had."

Hey, shadelight, I found this old unpublished story that I wrote into Ren'Py some time back. It concerns several issues but I wasn't as good a writer then. I was eventually going to make art for it, but I never got around to it. It's actually my abandoned first project.

If you want to, I will give you that story in a PM. I also have one other unpublished short children's story and they are both kinetic fiction. It is very likely that I will never get them published and I've gotten like forty-five rejection letters saying "It's good but... it's not what we're looking for."

I would not be offended if you wanted to do something with them, polish them, release them. I would really like to get some stuff out there for my personal portfolio.

Anyway, I sent you two PMs with the Google Docs publically shared. The scifi thriller has a lot of tense errors that need to be fixed (present/past) and a handful of typos. The children's story should be good to go for the most part.

On another note, I've started to help with a few other VNs. So unless anyone just wants to give me something to work on, proof-read, or just make a VN out of a story, I am not going to be on many more teams.

If anyone wants to, however, you may post stories to be tinkered with.

Let me know if you use them and release them, Shadelight, I'd like to put them in my portfolio or mention them. They're both rough around the edges, but you can rewrite them and rework them if you want to.
