Beneath Her Starry Sky [Adventure][Comedy][Fantasy][Steam]

#1 Post by Calamity Kitz »

Hello everyone! My name is Kitz, and I'm the President/coder of Sylphsong, Inc. For the past few years, I've been working with some incredibly talented artists and musicians to create an ADV visual novel - and at last, it's released!! Yay!!

This is a culmination of four years' worth of work and several metric tons of bagels being consumed. All that being said, I'm proud to announce that "Beneath Her Starry Sky" did not involve crunch for any of our staff. Furthermore, we had unlimited PTO for family emergencies, Covid, mental health days, and other real life stuff. My goal was to provide as much of a stress-free environment for my team as possible, while delivering the absolute best experience possible for everyone. These guys and gals are the absolute rock stars of this project!

Thank you for stopping by, and I truly hope you can support our little project - I've put up a 25% discount for our first week, woohoo! I've also provided the Steam store page information below, just as before. Take care, and stay safe!

Description:
A fantasy/adventure Visual Novel that spans both past and present. The world is trapped in an endless time loop, and a terrible beast brings ruin over and over again. Dive into a simulated point in history to gather answers on breaking the cycle.

As Freya Fae, track down the master assassin Orick Genn before he brings ruin to the city of Ironfall. Rely on your faithful companions and make friends with the citizens as you encounter dangers lurking through the streets. To save the future, you must defend the past.

Features:
- A single route with variations depending on what background choices you've chosen for Freya!
- Numerous player choices that impact the outcome of characters' fates and futures.
- Numerous player choices that are there for giggles and shenanigans.
- Five-ish endings to uncover - some have minor variations depending on your story choices.
- A gallery with 65 entries to unlock; each one has unique descriptions and sweet, delicious lore.
- A puppet show with 8 episodes to find! All of 'em are totally canon.
- A light, casual combat system for when civil conversation fails.
- Side stories, 13 in total, that bolster your desire to protect the city - boosting your combat stats! Also, there's yummy food to eat, too.
- Story statistics: 176,207 words.

Some more information:

What's the setting?
Most of the game takes place in the city of Ironfall, though you will briefly visit other places, too!

Are there multiple endings?
Yes! There are several endings dictated by player choice, some darker than others. There are also multiple ways to get the "True" ending, as well!

What kind of dialogue choices are there?
I've sprinkled little dialogue-specific choices where you're asked to respond to conversations, and then there are "Critical Choices" that determine a major outcome in the story.

Multiple routes?
There's one route, but you have some variation since - just as with the "Critical Choices" mentioned above - you can choose one of three character traits, backgrounds, and skills. These unlock different dialogue choices, and certain people will react a little differently to you. You may also reveal or skip entire blocks of dialogue based on what kind of person you are!

How hard is the game?
It's fairly casual, actually. I've also included a Story Mode option for those who just want to play the game and not worry about death.

Speaking of which, is it a full-length RPG?
Nah, it's a love letter to the JRPGs of old, but there are no random encounters or grinding. Every now and again, a conflict arises and you have to draw your sword. You can get stronger by engaging in little side stories, though!

Are there any collectibles?
There are! The "Archives" section is a gallery with neat little lore blurbs attached to each unlockable. There's also a puppet show with extra (canon) sidestories that can be unlocked, too!

If you've got any constructive feedback based on what I've shown, or if there's anything else you'd like to ask about the project, please let me know! I'd be delighted to answer any questions. Thank you very much for your time! :)

Also, the gorgeous background art is courtesy of Ariangga, I STRONGLY recommend him!!
