Update as of 3/09/14
So I originally came up with the idea for this story and the characters all the way back in 2009, then when I rediscovered OELVNs I realized that 100% that was the way I wanted to tell this story.
I've been off and on this game for around four years now... It's been a bunch of hitting walls and forcing myself until I hated it and wanted to throw things away. In 2011 I completely redid the art because I had hated it and that ended up being a bit of a breakthrough for me.
Obviously it's been a long time since I looked at this and I wanted to know why it fell apart for me and then I realized the source of pretty much all of my issues. So now I'm completely starting over story/gameplay wise.
The characters are still the same, but as of now, I have now added about five more. The original storyline, sans the sister issue, is still there as well, I've just added two more intertwining plots as well as completely utilizing a lot of background information I'd had lying around as pretty much easter eggs. The gameplay is no where near the same, however.
I'm already more excited to write this than I had EVER been. Obviously, until The Empty Orchestra is done, as it is my 2014 NaNoRenO, I can't touch this, but I most certainly will once I am finished. (Though Rock Robin, for very obvious reasons, will be my priority over this until we get Open Mode all cleaned up for Beta-ing)
Synopsis:
Based on the Brother's Grimm Fairytale Snow White and Rose Red
Fraternal twins Snow White and Rose Red with their widowed Mother in a cottage in the middle of a forest in the Borderlands. Both girls and their Mother carry "gifts" which is rare, but cherished in the country of Teifer. Snow White has the gift of Communication which allows her to speak to all things and all languages. Rose Red carries the gift of Wildness, which means that animals are naturally attracted to her and she herself can resort to animalistic behaviors for survival. Their Mother has the gift of Understanding which allows her to know the true being and intentions of someone.
One winter night there is a knock at the door and the girls answer the door to find a bear outside asking to come in.
After this a series of events occur.
Mysterious wolf prints are found by the cottage and close to the village, frightening the villagers.
A mysterious stranger arrives, he seems to be watching the girls.
A goblin appears in the woods.
Plots within plots. Clashing ambitions. Why does the neighboring territory's Lord want to plow down the forest so badly? Who are the bear and the wolf? What do the stranger and goblin want? Why has their mother grown so overprotective?

Main Characters:
Snow White
Snow White is the gentler of the two sisters. She is quiet and passive. During the Summer she stays inside most often, helping their Mother take care of the house. She does not do well with confrontation and often relies on her sister to be more outgoing.
She holds the gift of Communication.
Rose Red
Rose Red is the wilder of the two sisters. She is outgoing and aggressive. During the Summer she stays outside most often, running through the woods is her favourite pastime. She tends to get angry very easily and relies on her sister to keep level headed.
She holds the gift of Wildness.
Bear
A weary traveler whom stays the winter with the family. He is teasing and an overall jovial personality. He seems to be on a mission and searching or someone
Wolf
A mysterious wolf who the girls have never seen in this part of the forest before. He doesn't seem to fear coming close to human settlements and has no pack.
Donovan
A Goblin who has come to the forest. He seems to have a penchant for getting in trouble, but he is always ungrateful when the girls help him out. His hair is his vanity and wealth is his only ambition in life.
He is grouchy and seems to be up to something.
Side Characters:
Mother
The Mother of the two girls. Though she is sad for the lose of her husband when the girls were young, she hides it and puts on a cheerful face. Because of her gift, the girls often cannot get away with many things and she always knows if someone means ill will towards her family.
She holds the gift of Understanding.
Mysterious Stranger
No one knows why he is, but he seems to have taken an interest in the girls. Rumor has it that he is apart of the rebel group who wishes to overthrow King Adder of Tiefer.
Lord Sycamore
Ruling Lord of the territory next to the Borderlands. His manor's village is the closest village to the girls and their mother. He has been campaigning with the villagers to clear a great part of the forest and Rose Red has been passionately protesting.
Aurore Sycamore
Lord Sycamore's only child, Aurore is often in the village. She and Rose Red are always fighting, especially with how Rose Red is constantly pitting herself against her father. She is incredibly intelligent, but the girls don't find her very trustworthy.
Gameplay: Due to still working out the kinks of how I want to do this, I don't really wish to say much about the new game mechanics. The old version had a bit of simulation elements to it, but I am getting rid of those. I can say, however, that you can no longer choose romances in the game. It's still there, but it's not a major part of the gameplay or story and it's only canonical relationships, sorry.
