Regarding the HD crash....I have to agree, OUCH. Mine crashed a few years ago, and I was fortunate enough at the time to have a slave drive, so I didn't lose everything...which was good because I REALLY didn't want to have to rewrite my 12-page essay for English class!

And...what's this thing about Real Men being wrong? I though Real Men were always right! (waits for eclipse or bookie or someone like that to throw things at him)

PC Inspector might have worked for me (I have a 2,5" HD frame that converts a laptop HD like mine into an USB drive), but unfortunately, I didn't hear about it until today >.< Well, what's done is done, and I gotta be optimistic about it. At least I get a pro to work on the files, right? Right.

Well, it's obvious, isn't it? Real Men are Real Men because they are willing to take a chance, they know that they might delete something irreversibly, but the fact that they are willing to have insecurity in trade for quickness and effectivity... that's what makes them Real, and not just Men. 8) 8)

Now, let's get out before eclipse and the girls get here... :?

Regarding the recovery program, I've used the Inspector, but it had no effect, twice. It really must only be a software thingy for it to work. If the data recovery firm wasn't trying to rip you off, I'd say the problem was indeed mechanical, otherwise they's be probably able to recover most of the files with minimum effort (compared to I don't know what they do with the hard drive if the problem is mechanical - maybe they have to take the HDD apart and things, that's why the process is expensive). Well, I don't do much data recovery - usually I just cry (Real Men do that ^_^) and then buy a USB stickfor backups next time, a new drive and start my works again. :?
