Web-hosting issue TT

#1 Post by Chu-3 » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:36 am

Okay... I just bought a new web-hosting acc at hostmonst** and 3 days later (today) I got an email about suspicious activity and they suspended my acc TT. Really I don't know why and what I've did. I made everything myself and just begin to make a teaser site for my new game.
I only use small free cgi and php script for bbs and contact form, and not use any mysql. Of course, all materials are mine.
Really, all of these frustrated me TT

Does anyone here know what might be detected as "suspicious activity"?

I'm pretty stressed... this is the first time I use paid hosting and that what I got.

Send in a ticket/support request/whatever they call it, asking why your account was terminated. Honestly, the situation in question leads me to believe that this hosting company doesn't sound very trustworthy. I suggest looking for a new one, if anything.

There also seems to be a live chat. You could ask there as it seems to be on as of now.

I tried the live chat, with account verification subject but after I clicked on "submit" button> I got a message that I've canceled the live chat(I don't even start it yet!)
Then I tried to go to support> script, asking what script that is suspicious and I got the message below>

BlueHost does not Support or Assist with Scripting, Coding or Third Party Product issues including but not limited to Installation, code Maintenance, Custom Scripting, or Technical Maintenance in relationship to these areas. If you have Scripting, Coding or Third Party Product questions BlueHost recommends you consult or hire a programmer, design group or the manufacturers of your third party products. If you feel your situation warrants exception then you must submit a support ticket requesting a technician review your issues. We are more than happy to tell you about our software environment, what versions of which software we run, and try to give you an idea what software can conceivably run on our systems. Again BlueHost makes no claims or guarantees that our support staff will be able to assist you with your Scripting, Coding or Third Party Product issues.

Okay, I know blue and hostmons** are in same parent company but still I was shocked.

I sent a support ticket but... as far I haven't got any reply yet(maybe because of the time difference?)

And last, I choose this host because many webhosting review site rated this host in top 10.

I tried to call but my hearing is not so good and I just understand that I need to say my name, my domain, and then I press "1" to accept my recording, then ... the robot just said that they will review my site and the phone is cut.... and that was an international call TT

any better hosting suggestion?

I just got a reply, told that they have their criteria to determine the legitimate of an acc. Then asked me to send my ID card's copy.... just it then after I sent the site is back in less than 10 minutes @.@

Really I don't get what caused all of this.

Sorry for disturbing you Lemmas ><

You have to be careful about contact forms. There are robots that can basically use that against you and run up multiple emails like it was being sent from you - basically sending out spam. Most hosting companies are also a bit more careful about international customers so that could've been an issue as well. Anyways, I'm glad to hear it all worked out!

I'm really surprised about BlueHost - I've had good experience with them but... it's not like I have a very active website under them so take it for what it's worth. Currently, I use two hosting companies - one is called Rydia which is specifically hosting for artists and the other is LiquidWeb (using their StormOnDemand service) which I can't laud enough. The prices are a bit high compared to others but their customer service is top notch and available every day of the week, 24 hours a day.

Eh! @.@ they can use my email that I linked with the contact-form? I'm not so experienced with php/cgi so I wonder what is the safest way to embed the mail form...

And thx for your recommended hosting company.
I'll take a look for them later.

Ah and I don't use BlueHos*. I use HostMonst**, but one of its error message seems to be linked to bluehost error message.

I had bad experience when using bluehost than I got with very bad things going on with godaddy. Now I am with one.com and having no issues with nothing.
