Re: VN Novice in Need of Feedback!
I'm not sure if you're being silly or serious. :) I want them to have a 2D anime/manga feel, but I also want them to be dynamic. Can you give me some ideas as to what you're talking about? Like, do you just like to see more highlight/shadow? Do you prefer painted looks? I really want them to be cle...

Re: Black Sands: Sprite criticism Please
There's no point bumping threads if they're not actually sinking, you know. :) What direction is the light supposed to be coming from in those images? The shadows seem to be placed completely at random. For heavily muscled characters, it's very important that the musculature is correct. While Apedem...

Re: When making OCs and their backstory just....
I find that backstories are really only important in terms of how they effect the character right now . Always concentrate on the now when you're writing, it makes these things much easier. Think about how the events in their past influence their personality, their goals, their hopes, their fears, h...

Re: Ellipses Use
They should never be used at all, with exactly one exception; when a character trails off in the middle of a sentence.
It especially bothers me in VNs. It always baffles me how people will include what is essentially -pause- in their dialogue, when they could just, y'know, pause the damn dialogue.

Re: Still can't get it right >.<
I'll concentrate on the coloured girl for the moment. The first thing that jumps out at me is that her arms are too short. If her wrists and hands are supposed to be showing beneath her sleeves and you just haven't drawn them yet, that's fine, but if her sleeves are meant to be covering her hands, t...

Re: First Person vs Third Person
You should always, ALWAYS, default to third person perspective. I usually hate first person, since it tends to be used the wrong way so much. Writing well in first person is really, really difficult, and it should only be used when it actually adds something - eg: to convey to the reader that they a...

Re: Are these sprites acceptable for VNs?
I'm going to be completely honest here, and say no, it's not acceptable. I would be disinclined to play a VN with art of this level, sorry. Things you should concentrate on improving: - Linework. The lines are all uniform and way too thick. Are you using a mouse? - Posing. Everyone goes for that pos...

Re: Thinning ink lines
Only if you're using vector lines. Which you aren't. So, no.
You may want to invest in getting Paint Tool Sai, since you can do that sort of thing in linework layers with it.

Re: song critique requested
The main thing I'm noticing is that it sounds like your very close to the mic, singing very softly. This means that I can clearly hear every time you take a breath, it also makes the entire thing sound very breathy, and makes it difficult to make out the lyrics. Try singing more loudly, and not dire...

Re: Too many sprites...?
Are you using composite images?
Since the large amount of images is coming from variations, it'd be the most efficient way to reduce image size.

Re: Otaku and a weeaboo
NEET stands for Not in Education Employment or Training. A drain on society, basically. IIRC Otaku comes from nerdy no-lifers in Japan who, when they have to communicate, use the word as part of their stilted, awkward speech. NEET Otaku and Hikkikomori often overlap, but they don't directly imply on...

Re: The artist isn't listening
Large companies dont throw away months of work just because an artist doesn't want to follow the direction the company wants. I know its a lot to take in but some times you just need to protect your investment. If you are paying someone to work than they should be more lenient to meeting your needs...

Re: The artist isn't listening
My suggestion is have another artist go over the drawings to fix the things you want to be fixed. Absolutely do NOT do this. Especially if you want to remain friends with the artist. That sort of thing is an extreme insult, to both the old and new artist. If you want to hire a different artist go a...
