Re: Rynspyr: Desert Pyrates -- New Short Demo Included

I would say find some music first. :D It doesn't have to be the permanent choices, just anything ... Gosh, some good Arabian/Egyptian music would be awesome here.

Go ahead and release your arcs separately. If they're done, people will want to play them. There's no harm in releasing them unless you predict you'll need to change major plot things. Like "ooh, I want to make this necklace really important -- ARGH but he's not wearing it in the first game!!"

And short (first) games are fine. :3

I'd say wait for music, and release in arcs. I know I'd play it either way, and sometimes arcs are nice for really long games that are more kinetic. That way, people will read each arc when release, and even if it has a slow part, they won't quit because they think there's at least another x thousand words to go.
Of course, I'm bias 'cause I don't want to hafta wait for the complete version to start it. XD

The important thing about an arc is that it has to be an arc - with a beginning, middle, and end. Use the bus test - if you were run over by a bus right after releasing this, would it stand alone as a satisfying story? Or would people be complaining about how it seemed like a good start, but it never really went anywhere?

OMG, this. At least for me, I read more comfortably if I know there isn't twenty hours of dialogue ahead of me. Arcs would indeed focus on the writing more. I'm not a fan of series, really, but if you're capable of giving it three act structure (like PyTom said), then it's more like an episode of a TV show or something.

Lol, bus test. Man, I'm not so sure the first arc could pass the bus test, but the second one (which I'm in the midst of planning) should be able to. But now I feel less bad about it being really short.

And ok, I'll wait for some music before I release it. Thanks for the input. :)

So, my composer has finally gotten around to finishing a song for the game (yay), and was wondering if you had any comments/critiques for it. :)

You can find it here: http://emihaumut.com/rynspyr/demos/skyler.mp3

The very begining and end where it's only the 'bling' sound really are a tad boring and go on for a while, but I really liked it anyways on the whole. :)

Mmmm, bling, lol. In his earlier drafts, they were even longer. I'll let him know though. :)

Bling was the only onomatopeia I could think of...>.>
I mostly mentioned it because if the music is ever looped, because of slow reader, extremely long text section, etc, the end + beginning again would be too much to take. XP
