Potential Meetups

#1 Post by PyTom »

I thought I'd start up a thread for upcoming trips, in which I would be able (at least conceivably) to meet members of the forum. I encourage others to post here, or something.

So, my schedule right now is:

Nice, France - January 15-16th 2007
Kyoto, Japan - September (10-14th?) 2007

I may be extending my trips a few days on either side.

Okay, maybe I'm just bragging about the Kyoto trip. :-)

Envy you the Kyoto trip. Is that in time for the SF Worldcon being held in Japan?

Afraid that unless folks plan on being in the San Antonio, TX area, or want to meet me during my summer tour (Yellowstone Natl Park, Rocky Mountain Natl Park, Mesa Verde Natl Park), I'm probably unavailable for the known future (last minute business trips not withstanding).

On the other hand, several of my photos have been used for some online travel guides of SA, so if you are down here, I can show you the town (Alamo, other missions, Riverwalk, etc)

FWIW,
Ewan

Le damn! That's the time of my planned ski trip vacation. And it's during the week. Oh well, next time, I suppose.

Anyway, in theory I could probably make it to any well-connected European city during a weekend, so maybe, one day... 8)

Hmmmmm....about the only person who's anywhere near me (that I'm aware of) IS Blue Lemma...he's about 20 miles or so from me, and I have yet to meet him...so....

Hey, Blue...we gotta meet one of these days....

Darn, looks like I'll miss you in Japan because I'm coming back to Canada in the end of April.

Actually, no, this will be my first time to Europe. The only times I've been out of the USA have been trips to Canada: A vacation in Montreal when I was a kid, and attending a conference in Ottawa a few months ago. (The latter doesn't even count as a visit to a foreign country.)

My main goal of these events is to present papers at conferences, so I go to where the conferences are.

So this time it's a real vacation or yet another conference? In any case, Nice should be... well... "nice", ha :). It's usually quite sunny (what with the winter? I don't know ô_o) and well... just one of the popular places to go on holidays ^^. I hope you enjoy it... and don't meet too many stoopid french pipeul~. Oui are note so bade, riily.

It's a conference, but I've added another day and a half of vacation before and after it. So it's a little of both.

(And I'm no fan of the hotels that list "Amenities: Elevators".)

Lol, well we don't have elevators everywhere but... in a hotel, it should be standard :)
