Meal ideas? (Lunch and Dinner)
Hi,
Anyone have nice meal ideas for Lunch and Dinner?
I'm tired of eating TV dinners and instant foods every day, so I'm looking for healthier options. Any ideas?

Here are a few ideas: fresh fruits and vegetables, omelets, grilled cheese sandwiches, buy some ground beef and make hamburgers.Lishy wrote:Hi,

How about making a turkey sub sandwich? With your standard lettuce + tomato, red onions, provolone cheese, mayo, etc... and such on a wheat bread. And fruit yogurt as a healthy dessert.
It's what I had today ^^

Foodgawker is a huge site that compiles probably hundreds of thousands of recipes from other cooking blogs... It's a bit overwhelming, but if you use the search function you should be able to filter down to things you'd like.
My suggestion as to where to start is searching through pasta and noodle recipes or flatbreads, or sandwiches and wraps.

I agree with the sandwich option. It's quick and convenient, healthy, and only takes a little longer than preparing any sort of microwavable instant dinner. Also, you can experiment with awesome bread.
Noodles are also pretty simple and easy, as is pasta.
And another simple option is baking salmon fillets and having that with a side of rice or veggies. If you look it up online, it's simple to prepare and only really requires you to spice it and add breadcrumbs and you can make salmon taste different depending on what you use. The oven pretty much does all the work.
At least, this is my advice as a lazy university student who also lived off of instant noodles and microwavable meals for a long time.

Well, this might only make for one dinner, but I would recommend cooked potatoes and meatballs in gravy. Just remember to add the vegetables, I usually stirfry some brocolli, (that white vegetable that looks kinda like brocolli) and mushrooms to go with it. As for the meatballs, I make mine myself from minced meat, but I'm sure there are premade ones that can be bought ^^

Get some of the tastier vegetables out there - red and yellow bell peppers, zucchini, cherry tomatos, onions. Slice them thinly (just quarter the tomatos). Get some turkey or chicken breast and slice it into thin stripes. Put some oil into a frying pan and fry the meat in it until it starts to get brown on the outside. Take out the meat, put the vegetables into the hot frying pan and fry the vegetables until they start to get soft (the onions should be glassy by then. Put the meat back in, apply salt and pepper and, if you're feeling lucky, some hot sauce or ground chilli peppers. Put a lid on the pan and continue frying until the vegetables are nice and soft, which is when the meat should be done. Serve hot; you won't need any sauce because of the water the tomatos let out.

I was beginning to worry that I was the only one who didn't really considder subways/sandwishes as suitable for lunch/dinner ^^; Glad to see another actual food recepie appear here. I will be sure to try this out ^^Taleweaver wrote:Get some of the tastier vegetables out there - red and yellow bell peppers, zucchini, cherry tomatos, onions. Cut in small pieces potatoes, zucchini and many carrots. Use a lot of these veggies! Boil them in a lot of water with salt, until they are tender.
Drip them in a strainer. Cover a baking tray with wax paper, put the veggies in there and cover them with beaten eggs (the number depends from the dimensions of the baking tray). When you beat the eggs, put some salt in them too.
Carefully level the mixture with a spoon and bake in the oven at 200 C° until the egg is cooked and solid.
It's tasty and light good if you are on a diet too :3

Fry up ground beef and onion. Serve over rice.
(okay, it's technically not healthy, but I'm lazy)

Oh, I love cooking!
Yummly is a recipe app that lets you scroll through different foods
and recipes, and puts the ingredients on a little shopping list for you. :3
Some easy and delicious things to make are homemade burgers,
stuffed bell peppers, omelettes, homemade fried rice, baked zucchini fritters,
grilled cheese, stir fry, chicken cutlets... those sorts of things!
I think it's mostly about keeping vegetables in your meals,
and keeps things like olive oil, spices, rice, and simple condiments
like soy sauce handy! Plus my cabinet is always prepared with breadcrumbs.
My quick and easy meal is breaded chicken cutlets with mixed greens
and roasted potatoes.
Sorry about babbling, I just get so excited about cooking. > o <;;

Casseroles and crock pot meals are super easy. You just dump everything into a pot and cook them.
