Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?
For me it was Sword Art Online which got me in this mess... ehh, anime. Back then I considered certain parts of the series master pieces of animation (I still love to see them).
Attack on Titans. Very popular with friends of mine (and I also enjoy certain aspects of it).
The anime series I liked best till now is The World God Only Knows. The story is good (not just a 'romance'/'harem' anime with stereotypes), the animations are well done and I simply love the soundtrack. The manga is, of course, even better.
There are a lot of others, but I'm to lazy to think any further.

It's more fun to have a signature than writing one.

Add this to one of my top favorites:
Shirobako
To be quite honest, I nearly quit watching this after watching the first episode, I felt so overwhelmed by everything happening so fast, and the sheer number of characters introduced.
But, I gave it a chance, and I'm glad I did; this was an excellent series overall. Love the mixture of comedy, drama, as well as the deep themes it presents (and the five girls were pretty cute ^.^). Easily among the top anime I've ever watched.

"Welcome to the N.H.K" for me.
It's a fantastic show that also hits pretty close to home for me, especially now as a post college graduate wondering what to do with his life.
I'm an unabashed Gundam fan too, so I'd probably place Gundam 00 up there as well for TV anime, and have 8th MS team as my favorite out of all the OVAs. It's a tough choice that I'll probably change my mind on depending on what day it is.

Welcome to the N.H.K. was fantastic. As someone who's struggled with hikkikomori tendencies and negative thoughts, it's pretty spot on in how it depicts things.someguy01mmb wrote:"Welcome to the N.H.K" for me.

Of course, #1 has to go to Clannad/Clannad After Story for me... it's not a perfect anime, but oh my god the feels.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood will always be on top of my list, no matter how many years pass by.
For recent anime, I find My Hero Academia to be so good, I'm glad it's getting a fourth season. ^^

Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?
I have only two anime with max rate. It's "Code Geass", and "School Rumble", both first season. In "Code Geass" I love everything, from art, and story, to openings and endings (1st ending rule). "School Rumble" is just an awesome comedy I've watch few times and it rule as comedy (also openings are great).
I wish I had an talent to do graphics. Or any other talents. But you know what they talking about people without any talents, they have a big pe***es. No wait. They talk so about people with big feets...

Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?
hmm, never noticed this thread before.
This is a rather hard choice to make, I've seen a lot of very good shows, all with their own reason for being the 'best'.
if I had to choose one as the ultimate winner, I'd have to go with FullMetal alchemist: Brotherhood.
The story was superb and the visuals were gorgeous.
My favourite character out of it would have to be Maes Hughes.
Honourable mentions would include Steins;Gate, Madoka Magica and The girl who leapt through time, which I actually watched twice in one sitting.

Warning: May contain trace amounts of gratuitous plot.

Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?
My oldest daughter and I LOVE "My Hero Academia". We find the characters quite compelling.
Re: Best Anime Ever Watched?
While obviously Steins;Gate is unbeatable, recently I faced
I'm an indie novelist (in my native language, of course), and after watching that anime now I pretend a lot more from myself and any other piece of narrative. If human beings can do something alike, there's no excuse to do less than it.
In a narrative sense, it's absolutely PERFECT.
The premise is bland. Building an intriguing story with just ONE ROOM and TWO CHARACTERS and make it so personal, emotive, human, real ... is uncanny.
It talk about something we all know: what happen when you die. No conflict, no magical mistery, only a series of perspectives on the subject that goes from unfair to moving to even happy.
The characters are incredibly deep, sometime atrocious, sometime gentle, sometime they simply contradict. They are written so well I feel embarassed for mine. It happen that you feel empathy for a character... only to mind about that's exactly not a likable individual! Anyway this is not a character based story. Characters are just metaphorical elements to indepth a theme.
The whole time since the first episode you're dragged in and want to know the mistery. And is godly paced, it fit perfectly 12 episodes, so it also have an AMV care for drawings.
The opening is again a struck of genius. It's not what happen in the anime, is what happen if those characters were called to make an opening XD.

DEATH PARADE
And I have to admit that my paradigma changed.
