I have sunk a good week into learning how renpy works, and now I would like to help bring some projects to life.
As I don't have any previous projects (other than some modification to other games) I am willing to work for free.

NaNoRenO, a month-long visual novel game jam that lasts throughout all of March, is coming up soon. There will probably be a lot of people looking for a free programmer during that time period - I would suggest keeping an eye on this forum for projects that you might be interested in working on.
