Re: I made a website full of creative commons resources

Oh, it's so wonderful! The site is really easy to use (with filtrer, and all), and I've always wanted something like this where you can see everything easily. I'm looking forward seeing it when it will be finished. (By the way, it would be really nice if the search button allowed to search for the a...

Re: What do you like in a VN protagonist?

I like main character in visual novel to be like a main character in a novel. I don't want a bland personality so I can "project myself". I want a "real" main character, well-written, with their past, their personality, theirs goals, ... So, now is the question... What do I like ...

Re: Good story but decent art

If you look at examples of successful projects that have famously bad art -- like Ryukishi07's Umineko, or ZUN's Touhou series, they have one thing in common: they did their own artwork. Most people agree that Ryukishi07 is a capable writer, and that ZUN is a capable game designer, but calling eith...

Re: Sprites - art vs narrative description inconsistencies

I wouldn't mind inconsistencies between the description and the sprite. (As long as it's not a very important action. For exemple, if they're trying on new clothes, and everyone is speaking about it, but we don't see the new clothes, I found it frustrating. Of course, CG can be a possibility too for...

Re: Sympathizing with a 'Bad' character

Oh, there's a lot of games/movies/novels in which I've been rooting for the antagonist. (But, more than a good reason to do evil things, I think it's more about having charisma? An interesting personality and design are as important than a good motive in fiction.) It can also bring interesting intro...

Re: Good story but decent art

Actually, I find coherence between story and art more important than the art's level. For exemple, if you're writing something a little satirical, a voluntary crappy art style might help to install an appropriate mood. A dark crime story might be made of dark figures. A story about a phone or a comp...

Re: A very long common route and late character introductions?

Personally, I have no problem with a long common route. However, I must admit I will quickly get bored if I have to play two hours before making a choice. (When I'm in mood for reading a novel, I'm reading a novel. When I'm playing video games and visuals novels, that means I'm in mood for interacti...

Re: How do you use renpy?

Like the other said, there's a tutorial and an exemple in Renpy, and they are very well made. When you open Renpy, there is a game named "The question". Click on scrypt.rpy in edit file: it's a renpy game made for being an exemple easy to understand. There's also a game named Tutorial: cli...

Yes it is. I'm always interested in seeing people use it in new ways, or to see less known functionalities in use. =)

Re: Fast pace stories or drawn out stories?

I don't really know Episode (I play on computer), but I do prefer short stories, as I usually play VNs in the train. (I like being able to start and finish a new game in one trajet, or in one week-end.) Now, there's still exception, and I do like so very long and rich stories. But with longer storie...

Re: Is this acceptable?

That's an amazing idea, I think! I was too, thinking that, even though there is a lot of place where everything is linked, having to click on every link to see what the asset looks like was kind of complicated with how much free to use assets there are. If your website is well-organised, with catego...

Re: Time to Smack a Witch! [short film animated with Ren'Py]

It's not a link to youtube at all; when I try to click on it, it try to download a file! One that my computer suspect to be malicious. (of course, I stopped the download, I have no intent to check myself if it's a virus) I hope an administrator will be soon able to check if this is a simple error wi...

Re: Teach me how to draw

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but can I recommend a book...? Shojo Fashion, by Irène Flores, really help me a lot improving my drawing skills. Of course, even a good book can't cover everything and it can't possibly replace a good teacher, but it might help anyway...? (Her other b...
