Re: problem with image on background

I'm no artist, but I would think that doing it in layers other than the original scan would be the way to go... then jsut delete the first layer, with the scanned image, leaving the others, with your digital work.

Re: Writing Method: Linear vs Non-linear

Hmm.. Usually what I do is make a rough outline and flowchart it. Then I plug and fill in ideas into that flowchart, sometimes adding new branches/forks/etc, but I try to work with it in flowchart form (easier for me to keep track of) . Once I have the major stuff mapped out, I do another outline, u...

Re: {H} Opinions on "A drug that makes you dream"

Well, I WAS saving my pennies for Snow Sakura, but with the reviews this game has gotten, I think I'm leaning more towards this one now. Anything that someone can say is almost as good as Ever 17 must be in my game library.

Re: Ever 17

Dangit! Now I have to go look for my install disks again.. I've gotten all the good endings, and a couple of the bad ones, but now I want to see them all.. /sigh

Re: Word Count!

Now that I've started actually entering the script into Ren'Py, I'm up to about 1200 words, but I haven't even finished typing in the intro chapter yet. I'm ESTIMATING somewhere around 50k by the time I'm done typing.... That's if I don't get anymore idea's between now and then. Not having an artist...

I think SWITCH can convert from mid to just about any format, including .ogg

Re: Question about _window_during_transitions

Thank you very much. I'll try this soon as I get the 98/me fix installed on my laptop. <edit to avoid doublepost> Well, the 98/me fix worked just fine. The laptop, on the other hand, is a PoS and chokes a bit (a lot) on Ren'Py... Of course, it's a 133 with um.. 24 MB of ram, so I guess I shouldn't e...

Question about _window_during_transitions

Let's assume, for a minute or two, that I am completely clueless as far as scripting is concerned (which is a safe assumption.) I want the text box to stay on screen during transitions.... I know that in theory I am supposed to set _window_during_transitions to true... how exactly do I need to type ...

Re: Shouldn't Ren'Py games get out of the Romantic Genre?

Hmm.. current project right now contains Elements of horror, fantasy, thriller, romance, and general social.

Think I got them all...

No H-scenes or fluorescent panties... Although the panties might be added at a later date :)

Re: PenguinSoft Games recruiting...

Oh, if someone wants more info on the game, I can give them a link to what I have so far, I just mean I don't want to make a post with a download link where anybody or their brother could come across it. I would EXPECT people to want to see what I have so far (I admit, playable-wise it isn't much, b...

PenguinSoft Games recruiting...

Well, I have finally come to terms with the fact that I just can't do this whole thing myself. Well, I could, but I would not be happy with the end result... SOOOO... PenguinSoft games is now recruiting for our first VN.. Actually, it is MY first VN until now, since the rest of the PenguinSoft team ...

I'm just avoiding the problem by shifting through pages of credits placed on various CG images. My toughest decision is what transition to use.

Re: How do you make expressions

With expressions and poses, I cheat, since I make my dolls using Daz3D. It's a choice I made simply because I can't draw a recognizable stick figure, let alone a good character for a VN. But posing and morphing figures in Daz3D/Poser, well, that's something else entirely. I'll be the first to admit ...

Re: Writing idealized characters / Writing as wish-fulfillment?

I'm just wondering if it's just me or do many of the characters in the games we all write are the "ideal" person for us in the real world? I certainly don't feel that way. Obviously, there is SOMETHING there that appeals to us in some way, or we wouldn't create the character. But I wouldn...

Re: Novelty - My game maker

Very, VERY nice. If you had released this program a year ago, I probably never would have found myself working with Ren'Py... It took me quite some time to actually try to use it, I haven't done any coding since the '80s... and needless to say, it was a bit different than Ren'Py scripting. Of course...
