This is from Toire No Hanako. The whole game has a colored pencil sketchy look. Some backgrounds were created using Fotosketcher. In this case the original was a photograph. I've used Pencil sketch 4 drawing style with these settings:

• Edge threshold 30
• Edge intensity 50
• Level of contrast 50
• Darken/lighten 16
• Color intensity 238

The tutorials are aimed at architects, but VN creators can join the party. You don't need to model anything, if you don't want. Just download some architectural models from the Warehouse, fire Sketchup (any free version will do) and Fotosketcher, and have fun!
