Re: Audio Composition Dumpage Circle! Show your inspiration ^^
Wow! That's a pretty awesome coincidence if you ask me!
And I was thinking of wrangling some of my orchestral friends and actually recording my new soundtrack using actual instruments and players instead of my crappy computer. I'm also taking a lot of what you said to heart about the time period of the music, aiming for several styles from the 30's to the 50's.
And hopefully, after you're done with Wedding Vows at last, you can start working on that Mission to China thing...
But enough about me. Welcome back!

Will you stay here for a while, dear, 'til the radio plays something familiar?

[Quality affected by low bitrates]
I finally brought myself to sing to songs which I have done already over 10 years ago:
Second part is supposed to have additional drums. It's what we called a "Maxi", or "Extended Version" in the 80s
Vows (a perfect dream)
What have I done?
These 2 were for an anime forum. I adopted the texts from users into songs:
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-Circle_of_Death.ogg
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-W2KAF.ogg
A duet from 1998: http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-BBJB_KJ.ogg
a fun song about a video game lover (German): http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-Videogame.ogg
Handa Ayako appeared on a ensemble nipponia recording in 1977. Two lines are used in the movie "Blade Runner":
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-Ogi_no_Mato.ogg
more songs: http://www.joogn.de/charisma.php?p=5
Instrumentals from 1993, 96 and 98:
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-Deaf.ogg
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-Scheefl%f6ckchen.ogg
http://www.joogn.de/a/c/Charisma-ALoE.ogg
more: http://www.joogn.de/charisma.php?p=6

@Yummy - The beginning of "Troubled" reminded me on a the dark music of Ori, Ochi, Onoe.
@Nicol - Your wild style reminds me on my own music X-D
Got a thing for Mozart?

Hey, those are some really neat songs! I especially the "Baseball Jacket Boy" one hehe - simple and transparent, but very moody. Also, many of the other ones are charming in their own pseudo-retro ways .
Well, I guess I'll post these short clips I've done today, mostly cause I couldn't go back to sleep :
Durr 'n Burr
Zanzibar Comes Another Day

Thank you.GraMana wrote:Hey, those are some really neat songs! I especially the "Baseball Jacket Boy" one hehe - simple and transparent, but very moody.
=o *ish scandalised* For this I have to seriously boing you on the head, kid!GraMana wrote:Also, many of the other ones are charming in their own pseudo-retro ways.
I am afraid, some are are 'the real thing', because many of my songs I oringially wrote in the late 80s and early 90s. All synthies and samplers used, apart from the Emu E4X, are from that time, too! ( ;
Of course today recorded on my Fostex D2424 the sound quality is much better as on tape, or VCR. Apart from that you are somehow correct, I love that style and stayed in that. I seriously miss such music today. Not even Depeche Mode of recent years can satisfy this desire anymore.
I like the piano sound on "Zanzibar Comes Another Day", what did you use?

Haha, sorry about that. I guess that statement was to general - of the ones I've heard most had that retro + modern feel.
As for the piano, it's the Bechstein from Native Instrument's Akoustik Piano - really nice piano engine, which allows you to adjust things like the dynamic variance (to which I've exploited in that snippet), distance of the mike, and even stuff like if the hood is closed or open.

It's a shame this thread seems to have died again. Well, here a two silly remixes to get the lifeblood flowing, maybe?
MOON.struck - Messy mashup of MOON. tracks
Magfail - A crappified version of this, but now with some lyrics.

Hey Gramana!
Your works always inspire me in many ways. There's this feeling of jazzy tones, improvisation, and a fantastic tale, vibrant and free.
I feel there's also a search of deconstructive styles, where your play wouldn't be classified in any fields.
Plus, there's this feeling of little and light happiness, that I find in another composer I treasure: Okazaki Ritsuko.
That's just something I can't manage to create as I'm slaved to technical means to create any piece of music. Plus, I'm in a strange mood that make my composition turn into deep melancholy or near sadness rythms...
Anyways, here's some piece of old school mouse editing. (T__T)

Haha, well I guess I must be doing something right then, though I feel your praises might be exaggerated as I still don't know what I'm doing myself half the time . Also, while I do improvise many ideas on the piano and such, they mostly level out by the time I get them on the software, for better or worse.
And there's nothing wrong with sadder themes - I personally tend to enjoy them moreso than happy clappy ones at any rates.
Really enjoy the piece you're working on - starts of quaint and mellow but really changes nicely as it goes along. Good stuff!

Reviving this music creation thread ^^
I had made a tune for Samu-kun, some time ago as I became a fan of the Sunrider story.
So, at the same time as I try to revive this thread, let's make some music to illustrate this great story!

Ripples on a Fountain
I've composed this theme after I had read the scene where Asaga cries by the fountain.
I tried to make it sound a little sad, passionate, progressive, like someone approaching from a little distance and noticing this cute little girl crying.
Let's gather, friends, so that Samu-kun will continue this story I tried to make it sound a little sad, passionate, progressive, like someone approaching from a little distance and noticing this cute little girl crying.
