...just sneaking in to say that I second Jake about the powerpoint-like templates when you create a new Novel or insert a new page =3

I'd suggest something like:

- blank page
- Title screen (background image + text box centered by default)
- No characters (background image + dialogue box)
- One character (background image + centered sprite + dialogue box)
- Two characters (backround image + sprite at left + sprite at right + dialogue box)

It'd be nice to be able to save new templates as well, to use them in different Novel projects and such.

Just an idea ^^

Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX (June 08) and check log.txt for information on what might have gone wrong.

I'm working on a system that will let users make and share their own templates. It won't be like powerpoint where you pick a template at the start of a project. They will work more like regular objects and will appear in the asset library. That way you will be able to double-click a template to add a fully functional interface or even entire mini games with scripts and everything.

Edit:
It's working.

Awesome release. Pretty well done for an alpha.
Well here are some lack of features that I can think of:

-Ability to read logs (backlogging)
-Ability to switch between fullscreen and windowed modes
-Ability to tack on to the currently displayed text without reprinting
-Ability to display furigana (that tiny japanese text on top of kanjis)

There are some more I can't recall off the top of my head right now so I'll post later.
Consider adding these features (though I do admit the last one is a little 'ehh..')

Thanks for such an awesome share with the world, and I wish to see the best of results with this project

Best,
A Passerby

You're missing the June update.

If you already have DirectX installed and is getting an error saying d3dx9_37.dll is missing, you can get that one file here. Place the dll in your Windows\System32 folder.

Your hardware may not have full support for DirectX.

OMG SIN you are the greatest ^^

Like I said before, I treid to run Novelty on a 1,5GhZ Laptop with 3D Graphiccard and WinXP+Direct X 9.c

Now I have installed WinXP on my Linux PC (a 700MhZ Computer with 192MB Ram and a nVidia TNT2 Card onboard.....) and it WORKS! Without me installing DirectX9c. (I think it was within the Windows installation.....). But man, I had NEVER expected That! Thumbs up for ya ^^
