Good to see some motion on this.

First, let me point out that Ren'Py takes longer to load the first time after you've changed the script then it does later on. So you should run the game twice in a row, and see how long it takes the second time.

That being said, the way to make a "preloader" is to make an image named "presplash.png", and to put that image into the game directory.

... That's it? That's all I need to do?

LOL.

Okay, I'll take your advice. Thanks, PyTom.

Well I could make it more difficult, if you really want. But I don't see much of a need, myself.

Oh, the one caveat is that presplash.png must be a real file, it can't be hidden in an archive.

Yeah, I made a temporary one. Works flawlessly. :) Thanks again, PyTom.

I had a busy week, I won't get into it but I got into a car accident and that shook me up a little. I'm about halfway through Chapter Seven now, though ... (had to have something to take my mind off it ...)

Also, I am totally unharmed and so was the person I hit. It was a low-velocity collision ... so ... yeah ...

The truck went *crunch* on the door behind the driver's side door on the left, though. And the tire appeared to be hit as well.

I totally finished Chapter Seven. It took a fair bit out of me. I'm not at my computer right now, or I'd ready everything for posting. :(

Instead, I'll rig the basic code for tomorrow, definitely, and update the demo. And post the Chapter on my DeviantART site.

Da-da-da. No bells and whistles on this one, it is pure text and music.

Sorry, even though there is no voice-acting for the chapter, the impact isn't really diminished.

If, whatever reason the game will not run, the chapter is also written here in prose form (not script like the game):

It was really kind of "heavy" chapter so here's some light-hearted fodder.

Ack... I did the mistake of playing the demo... Now I'm venting my frustration at the nearby objects while I anxiously wait for the rest of the story. That was a really nasty cliffhanger, you know! Anyway, I will wait until it's finished before giving a full review, but (as you can probably see) I am very impressed with it already! Best of luck.

PS. Funny cartoon. Perfect contrast with the heavy mood of chapter 7.

Aw, well, if it makes you feel any better - that was what I was mostly dreading, thus giving me writer's block.

Now that it's over, progress with semi-smoother since I will probably gloss over most of the nonvital scenes in the
Epoch Coalition Institution.
The only thing I was afraid of was that I did not foreshadow enough ... but at the same time, it was necessary that it not be too obvious what was coming.

Backgrounds ... may not use them, but that's OK. They can be recycled for other games.

I also converted some of the older BGs. If you are squinting at them wondering what is different .... no lines.
